03.07.14 | good for you man, wish i could be motivated to stay healthy hahah |
MotokoKusanagi
03.07.14 | yeah not even going to try to give you motivation because you are the only person that's going to make it happen. but it really feels good (both mentally and physically) to be active again
i'm not exactly fat, but i could benefit from losing a few if you know what i mean |
MuhNamesTyler
03.07.14 | I feel ya man, haven't been to the gym in almost a month cause of life and moving. I feel like trash |
MotokoKusanagi
03.07.14 | yeah that's understandable. being a full time college student with a part time job, it can be difficult to find time to go to the gym for sure.
but hey, one of the best times to listen to music (besides reading imo) is when working out! |
Judio!
03.07.14 | Been walking a lot, I try to do an hour about every day. Besides that I can't find the motivation to hit the gym lately, although hopefully I will man up soon. |
MotokoKusanagi
03.07.14 | name change mr roseyho? how come walk instead of run? i've been running 2.5 miles a day (on treadmill because freezing outside) when i do cardio. it's a bit grueling but that feeling of walking out of the gym knowing you didn't pussy out is priceless |
Phlegm
03.07.14 | yeah I've recently just started running again - amazing how much working out does for your mood in general
that and i've fixed my sleeping schedule
feeling good (: |
MotokoKusanagi
03.07.14 | yeah i can come back from the gym, shower, and pass out within a 15 minute period
-brofist- |
MuhNamesTyler
03.07.14 | You gotta get a bowl or two in there bro, always nice after a workout |

03.07.14 | and please don't be one of those fools that just does cardio |
MotokoKusanagi
03.07.14 | i'm just trying to lose weight, not bulk up (yet), so yeah i almost strictly do cardio for now. i do 2.5 miles on the treadmill and cool down with 15 minutes of biking or the elliptical. i do plan on starting weights after i slim up a bit |

03.07.14 | "You gotta get a bowl or two in there bro, always nice after a workout"
if only i could |
Acanthus
03.07.14 | Decided to buy equipment rather than do a membership, finally have my bench + weights now so I'm about set until I max out the current set. While I like the gym I also like being able to do things whenever, and since I don't have a vehicle and don't want another monthly payment this is better for me.
Have:
Rowing Machine
Bench Press (leg attachment as well)
Barbells
Door Gym Bar |

weightlifting will actually burn fat faster and more efficiently than cardio will
|
Phlegm
03.07.14 | dam how much did a rowing machine cost you??? |
MikeC26
03.07.14 | same here man, been doing muay thai and jui jitsu. I've been getting my ass handed to me on the reg but i know i'm getting better and it's done a lot for my self confidence. |
Acanthus
03.07.14 | @Phlegm - Not that much, its a smaller model meant to be stored/moved; the real bonus/reason for purchase was that the arms have a full range of motion and you're not just pulling on a bar.

Had mine for over a year, and have only rowed around 115 miles so far. Somedays when I still had my other job/rode my bicycle 20miles a week I didn't feel like doing much of anything else. |

03.07.14 | "weightlifting will actually burn fat faster and more efficiently than cardio will"
to be honest i wouldn't have guessed that. just looked it up and seems to have mixed results, although the combination of the two definitely is best with the increased metabolism you get from lifting. |
Phlegm
03.07.14 | word thanks for the info, loc |
DominionMM1
03.07.14 | well, when you do cardio like running on a treadmill your body is only burning calories while you're doing it, as opposed to
weights, in which your body is still burning calories long after you've finished. of course it changes dramatically on what kind
of weightlifting you do. Interval training is always good for what you seem to be looking to do. |
MotokoKusanagi
03.07.14 | yeah not sure if i'm doing the "strict" definition of interval training, but i do run at high speeds
for about a mile, then bring it down for a minute or two to catch my breath, then boost is way up for
a mile, then bring it back down, etc
i'm definitely not running at jogging paces for 30 minutes straight yknow? |
DominionMM1
03.07.14 | try this: squats for 60 seconds, rest for 20, pullups for 60 seconds, rest for 20, deadlifts for 60 seconds, rest for 20, dips for 60 seconds, rest for 20 then repeat over and over again |
Nikkolae
03.07.14 | those p90x3 discs are the shit, got me really cut in about 2 months, although i was already pretty skinny to begin with. |
LambsBread
03.07.14 | yeah I also recommend p90x |
