Arcade Fire Ranked (w/ Explanation)

I just recently listened to this group's discography to determine my personal rankings. Feel free to comment with your opinions!
5Arcade Fire
The Arcade Fire

Has anyone else listened to this EP? I thought it was a nice little piece that led up to "Funeral".
4Arcade Fire
The Suburbs

Their 3rd LP released in 2010, this album is as if Arcade Fire decided to do an 80's surf
rock/pop album. It features 16 tracks, with mini musical suites "Half Light" and "Sprawl", a
reprise "The Suburbs (continued)" and even a song about a month "Month of May". I feel the
most underwhelmed with this album because while Win Butler/Regine Chassagne's songwriting
still produce some of their best tracks "The Suburbs", "Ready to Start", "We Used to Wait", on
many points of the album the energy just seems so careless-sounding that it leads to some of
the songs sounding cheesy and half-assed, despite all of the usual components being there.
3Arcade Fire
Neon Bible

Their 2nd LP released in 2007, this album takes the raw energy and uplifting spirit of
"Funeral", and just drives it down into the dark ages. This is their darkest album musically and
lyrically, taking a lot from their more post-punk influences. A lot of the songs deal with
religion, which serves as a central theme for this album. In my opinion, this and Reflektor are
pretty much tied, but I like the sonic experimentation and the direction of the music on
Reflektor just a bit more.
2Arcade Fire
Reflektor

Their 4th and most recent album, this album reeks of LCD Soundsytem's James Murphy
production influence. This album contains electronic synths, electronic drums, disco-inspired
songs, and much longer song lengths, something definitely new for Arcade Fire. While this
album does have its potholes with this new sound, "Here Comes the Night Time II",
"Supersymmetry", they hit almost consistently with great songs throughout.
1Arcade Fire
Funeral

The group's first album is their magnum opus in my opinion. Recorded in a Montreal loft for
less than $15,000, it features big production, diverse instrumentation, their most anthemic and
catchy songs, on top of stellar lyrics about suburban complacence that makes for a perfect
album, in my opinion.
