The Tops of 2013
2013 turned out to be a terrific year, with great albums coming from every musical genre. In rthe end, I didn't base the list on what I listened to most, but what I thought were simply the rBEST records that I did listen to. |
25 | | Maps For Travelers Change Your Name |
24 | | Citizen Youth |
23 | | Run The Jewels Run The Jewels |
22 | | State Faults Resonate/Desperate |
21 | | Balance and Composure The Things We Think We're Missing |
20 | | Queens Of The Stone Age ...Like Clockwork |
19 | | Lorde Pure Heroine |
18 | | Scale The Summit The Migration |
17 | | Moving Mountains Moving Mountains |
16 | | Daylight Jar |
15 | | Letlive. The Blackest Beautiful |
14 | | Kurt Vile Wakin On A Pretty Daze |
13 | | Sigur Ros Kveikur |
12 | | Alter Bridge Fortress |
11 | | The Safety Fire Mouth Of Swords |
10 | | Misery Signals Absent Light
If you've heard of them, you know their greatness. If you haven't, and you like
heavy music, make the move and get this record. |
9 | | Lord Huron Lonesome Dreams
Another album that I got to know while relaxing. This guy should be a household name in the near future if he keeps producing
music like this. |
8 | | Captain, We're Sinking The Future Is Cancelled
Captain, We're Sinking has been around for years, but I hadn't heard of them until this album. It immediately caught my
attention because of the vocal performance and overall catchiness. |
7 | | Arctic Monkeys AM
Absolutely love this band, and this album demonstrates them at their finest. |
6 | | The Dillinger Escape Plan One Of Us Is The Killer
Intense, chaotic, emotional, and beautiful. It's what they do. |
5 | | Night Verses Lift Your Existence
Pure musicianship all over the place! Such a great piece of work. |
4 | | Tallhart We Are The Same
I had never heard of Tallhart before grabbing this album on a whim shortly after it was released. It may be the
easiest album to listen to as a whole on this years list. The melodies are fantastic! |
3 | | Norma Jean Wrongdoers
A pioneer of the metalcore genre, they are back to install greatness into a stale genre.
This is a beast of an album, and one that will be in the mix for years to come. |
2 | | Alice In Chains The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here
The group's second LP post Layne Staley is another success. I don't listen to AIC
with the expectations of what they were. They're still a great rock band, and for
that, they land at #2. |
1 | | Protest The Hero Volition
This just happens to be their best work-to-date. A blend of all things awesome in
the world of rock and metal music. |
