Friday13th
12.21.13 | Pretentious question from a progger: Would you guys say being "ahead of their time" is different than originality? To me it implies being a trend-setter. Example: Magma is definitely original. But what, they influenced like 10 bands? They're at cult status at best. |

01.18.14 | I'd say Talking Heads, Sabbath and Zeppelin as well, although these are pretty generic choices. Talking Heads blended so many genres into one and created music I would believe to be 2000's-post material if I had never heard of it before. Sabbath pushed the boundries of rock music, inventing metal. And Zeppelin were a musical phenomenon, there wasn't anything like them at the time. |

01.19.14 | Although not my cup of tea, Death Grips is definately ahead of it's time. |
witchxrapist
01.20.14 | Ceremonial Oath (melodic death metal in the late '80s, js)
Converge & Starkweather (I mean these dudes were playing metalcore in like '89/'90)
Limp Wrist (first vocally gay hardcore band? that's definitely a milestone)
Honeywell (dudes sounded like screamo from 2001 in like '96) |
