Favorite Album Openers

This list does not go in any order.
1Tyler The Creator

"Bastard" - The simple, yet haunting piano and the lyrical prowess really start this album off great.
Turn On The Bright Lights

"Untitled" - This was one of the first post-punk songs I ever heard, and I think it really sets the tone for the rest of the album.
3Aesop Rock
Music For Earthworms

"Abandon All Hope" - The beat for this song is one of my favorites, and Aesop's lyrical ability is second to none.
4Of Monsters And Men
My Head Is An Animal

"Dirty Paws" - I love the folk sound of this song, and it sets the album out right.
5The Strokes
Is This It

"Is This It" - The bass on this tune is the best thing about it, for sure.
6Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas...

"Storm" - The opening movement is seriously one of my favorite compositions ever.

"For A Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic" - This song is probably my favorite on the album, and the album is great.
8The Dillinger Escape Plan
Calculating Infinity

"Sugar Coated Sour" - This was the song that got me into TDEP to begin with.
9The Black Keys

"Thickfreakness" - I just love how bluesy this song, and the record, is.

"Advent" - I love the riffs, and the vocals are fantastic.
11John Williams
Saving Private Ryan

"Hymn To The Fallen" - My favorite song from one of my favorite movies.
12Explosions In The Sky
Those Who Tell The Truth...

"Greet Death" - Around a minute into this song, I'm completely captivated.
Petitioning The Empty Sky

"The Saddest Day" - Probably my favorite Converge song so far. I haven't heard Jane Doe yet, though.
14The Specials

"A Message To You, Rudy" - My favorite Ska song of all time. The trumpet is just stellar.
15The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Are You Experienced

"Purple Haze" - You can never go wrong with this song. It's a classic in every sense of the word.
16Brian Eno
Ambient 1: Music For Airports

"1/1" - Quite possibly my favorite ambient song out there. Great album, too.
Lucy Ford: The Atmosphere Eps

"Between The Lines" - One of my favorite beats ever. This song is just so chilled out and relaxing.
The Marshall Mathers LP 2

"Bad Guy" - It's a really, really new one, but it's great nonetheless. When the beat changes, that verse is too good.
19Thomas Newman
Finding Nemo Soundtrack

"Wow" - The tone is set for the whole movie with this track. It really gives off an underwater type feeling.
None So Vile

"Crown of Horns" - Cryptopsy does this song rather well, don't you think?
