2013: What You're Missing

just a list of some great albums from 2013 that you probably didn't hear rabout, but you rdefinitely should. it's in no way ranked, just the way they rcame to me.
1stockades
stockades

5 aussies get together on a friday night. each of them brings a 12 pack of fosters.
they listen to funeral diner's "the underdark," the plot to blow up the eiffel towers'
"dissertation, honey" and the reptilian's "boys life ep." they decide they want to make
all of those sounds at once. this is the result; a breath of fresh air on an over-
saturated emo/screamo/math/post-rock formula.
2youth funeral
symptom of time

fast and heavy screamo that doesn't waste your time with any stupid vegan principles,
lame post-rock attempts or cheesy lyrics. direct and to the point. these guys hardly
even promote themselves, so i don't know how many people are/will be exposed to
this, but you all should be. check them out for yourself: youthfuneral.bandcamp.com
3the saddest landscape
when you are close, i am gone

another solid release from the saddest landscape, this time a split with my fictions. my
fictions starts it off with a great track, followed by a solid track from tsl, but the real
screamer here is the last track; a 13 minute epic featuring both bands. definitely
worth checking out if you have or haven't listened to any saddest landscape.
4adventures
clear my head with you

members of code orange kids playing some sweet indie/emo. nothing crazy special
that hasn't been done before, but the female vocals are a nice touch, and everything
is executed properly.
5the sky above and earth below
parting ways

excellent post-hardcore with obvious emo/post-rock influences. again, nothing crazy
out of the ordinary, but it's done right and it sounds good. super emotional and tight.
check these guys out for sure.
6foxing
the albatross

i'm sure a lot of you have heard/heard about this one already, but i can't take the
chance on not exposing it to those of you who haven't. i can't say much more than
what has already been said around here about this, but it is definitely worth your time.
if you were on the fence about it before, let this push you over.
7denzel curry
nostalgic 64

this seems to have a decent amount of exposure around the site, but i figured i'd
throw it on here for those of you who haven't heard it yet. killer beats, solid rhymes,
overall a decent addition to a pretty weak year in hip-hop.
8have mercy (md)
the earth pushed back

now this one i know a lot of you are aware of, but i feel required to add it to this list.
my top choice at the moment for album of the year, and for good reason. if you've
listened to this, great! if you haven't, stop reading and go do it right now. i can't say
enough good things about these guys.
