| 2013: What You're Missing
just a list of some great albums from 2013 that you probably didn't hear rabout, but you rdefinitely should. it's in no way ranked, just the way they rcame to me. | 1 | | stockades stockades
5 aussies get together on a friday night. each of them brings a 12 pack of fosters.
they listen to funeral diner's "the underdark," the plot to blow up the eiffel towers'
"dissertation, honey" and the reptilian's "boys life ep." they decide they want to make
all of those sounds at once. this is the result; a breath of fresh air on an over-
saturated emo/screamo/math/post-rock formula. | 2 | | youth funeral symptom of time
fast and heavy screamo that doesn't waste your time with any stupid vegan principles,
lame post-rock attempts or cheesy lyrics. direct and to the point. these guys hardly
even promote themselves, so i don't know how many people are/will be exposed to
this, but you all should be. check them out for yourself: youthfuneral.bandcamp.com | 3 | | the saddest landscape when you are close, i am gone
another solid release from the saddest landscape, this time a split with my fictions. my
fictions starts it off with a great track, followed by a solid track from tsl, but the real
screamer here is the last track; a 13 minute epic featuring both bands. definitely
worth checking out if you have or haven't listened to any saddest landscape. | 4 | | adventures clear my head with you
members of code orange kids playing some sweet indie/emo. nothing crazy special
that hasn't been done before, but the female vocals are a nice touch, and everything
is executed properly. | 5 | | the sky above and earth below parting ways
excellent post-hardcore with obvious emo/post-rock influences. again, nothing crazy
out of the ordinary, but it's done right and it sounds good. super emotional and tight.
check these guys out for sure. | 6 | | foxing the albatross
i'm sure a lot of you have heard/heard about this one already, but i can't take the
chance on not exposing it to those of you who haven't. i can't say much more than
what has already been said around here about this, but it is definitely worth your time.
if you were on the fence about it before, let this push you over. | 7 | | denzel curry nostalgic 64
this seems to have a decent amount of exposure around the site, but i figured i'd
throw it on here for those of you who haven't heard it yet. killer beats, solid rhymes,
overall a decent addition to a pretty weak year in hip-hop. | 8 | | have mercy (md) the earth pushed back
now this one i know a lot of you are aware of, but i feel required to add it to this list.
my top choice at the moment for album of the year, and for good reason. if you've
listened to this, great! if you haven't, stop reading and go do it right now. i can't say
enough good things about these guys. | |

12.07.13 | denzel is near my top 5 | tlhk
12.07.13 | no, they're 3 guys. it was released in may. i do think it was a pretty weak year for hip-hop. i only really liked about 4 albums enough to listen to them more than once. | tlhk
12.07.13 | and the point wasn't to put down hip-hop, i'm just trying to make people aware of some great albums they might have missed. pretty sure anyone who listens to hip-hop has heard run the jewels, twelve reasons to die, hark, old, etc. | Phlegm
12.07.13 | agreed that it has been a fairly underwhelming year for hip hop, i'll have to check some of these out | tlhk
12.07.13 | i understand i didn't mean to dodge your point. personally, i'm only really a fan of 1-2 of those albums on your list. just one mans opinion. i'm a sucker for 90's new york rap, so a lot of hip-hop released now-a-days, no matter how good it may be, fails to truly capture my attention. | Phlegm
12.07.13 | yeah hep like there has been a LOT of cool releases but not very many /great/ releases that will stick with me
namean??? | tlhk
12.07.13 | sweet, i'll be sure to check those out | iwasnvrurbf
12.07.13 | yooo 2 and 3
I fucking love 6 | ZippaThaRippa
12.07.13 | In my experience, Australians despise Fosters and take great offense to it. | cb123
12.07.13 | yeah obviously not australian for the fosters reference haha | tlhk
12.07.13 | haha it was a joke, whenever i think of australia all i can think of is fosters |
