ScuroFantasma
10.29.16 | Don't really know about "lesser known" but here's some good shit (some are not entirely nu-metal but it's in there):
Mudvayne - LD 50 (best nu-metal album of all time)
Korn - s/t (and their first 4-5 really)
Incubus - Science (groovy, funky stuff)
Snot - Get Some (these guys aren't super well known but they pull it off very well)
Slipknot - s/t (fun)
Cane Hill - Smile (2016 nu-metal done well, mix of metalcore in their too, heavy stuff)
Helmet - Meantime (a new one for me but it's solid, people seem to really like it, I'm in the middle).
Coal Chamber - s/t (not spectactular but good enough)
|
AsleepInTheBack
10.29.16 | Mudvayne - LD 50 [2]
Slipknot - s/t [2] |
TheRhapsodyOfKira
10.29.16 | Needs sevendust, rikkets, amen, spineshnak, crossbreed, hurt and static x. Helmet is alternative metal and coal chamber is boring and unoriginal ( thankfully dez farfara did a very decent job with devidriver) |
Flugmorph
10.29.16 | Nothingface is pretty good |
oltnabrick
10.29.16 | list needs korn |
DrGonzo1937
10.29.16 | Scuro has got this. |
Thalassic
10.29.16 | Deftones - Adrenaline & Around the Fur
(from White Pony onwards I wouldn't really classify the band as "nu metal" anymore)
Korn - S/T & Issues
Slipknot - S/T & Iowa
Mudvayne - LD50
System of a Down - S/T & Toxicity
That's basically where the nu metal fun stops for me |
ScuroFantasma
10.29.16 | "Needs sevendust, rikkets, amen, spineshnak, crossbreed, hurt and static x. Helmet is alternative metal and coal chamber is boring and unoriginal ( thankfully dez farfara did a very decent job with devidriver)"
Yeah agreed on the Helmet front. I've seen them included on lists like these before though so I thought I'd throw them in the ring anyway, they ride the line enough to appeal to nu-metal fans. Coal Chamber is a solid 3 for me, but they have a distinct sound (even though their influences are pretty obvious) so the s/t is worth a listen imo.
"Scuro has got this." - thanks man (: |
BallsDeep
10.29.16 | Stupid list thats been done before and better |

Deathconscious
10.29.16 | "chevelle are more alt rock / alt metal are they not?"
idk, i think they could fit under the nu metal tag pretty easily. |
BallsDeep
10.29.16 | yeah they're tight. although not quite as tight as their averages imply imo. |
teamster
10.29.16 | I love Taproot's entire discography. |

It's pretty nu-metal but it's also total crap. |
uhh
10.29.16 | grotesque probably |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.29.16 | Never though of Chevelle as nu-metal, moreso just hard rock but I guess it makes sense. |
Mystletainn
10.29.16 | grotesque probably [2] |
TheRhapsodyOfKira
10.29.16 | Chevelle is not nu metal, they don't have murky bass, they don't use the Drop C and Drop D tuning in guitars and the drums doesn't have hip hop and funk elements |
OwMySnauze
10.29.16 | Orgy- Vapor Transmissiob |
Middle18
10.29.16 | Mushroomhead - XIII
Spineshank - Height of callousness
Flaw - Through the eyes
One minute silence - One lie fits all
|
Impervious
10.29.16 | Yeah I gotta agree, Chevelle has their heaviest moments in Wonder What's Next but it's not Nu Metal. |
TVC15
10.29.16 | Rage Against the Machine |

GhostOfSarcasticBtrd
10.29.16 | Karnivool - Themata is the best nu-metal album of all time.
L.D. 50 is second. |

AlexKzillion
10.29.16 | Ikik |
ScuroFantasma
10.30.16 | Nu-metal and Alt metal are pretty close, Chevelle aren't that much of a stretch. |
xxm
10.30.16 | Factory 81- Mankind
Onesidezero- Is This Room Getting Smaller?
Mudvayne- L.D. 50 (I do like the End of All Things to Come almost equally though and the self-titled and Lost and Found have their moments. The New Game is pure shit though.)
Nothingface- Anything from An Audio Guide to Everyday Atrocity onwards
Korn- First five albums + The Serenity of Suffering
Memento- Beginnings
Skrape- New Killer America
Spineshank- The Height of Callousness
Darwin's Waiting Room- Orphan. |
iambandersnatch
10.30.16 | I think it's a little questionable to call early incubus (or really any incubus) "nu-metal", people really only think of them because it's the same time period, sonically there's not much there to support the tag |
ryu
10.31.16 | Five Pointe O |
ryu
10.31.16 | Agreed on Incubus bandersnatch. |
spookynewghostfriend
10.31.16 | incubus are def not nu metal lol |
Koris
10.31.16 | S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is their only nu-metal album and happens to be the best nu-metal album ever |
ryu
11.01.16 | I still can't bring myself to call SCIENCE nu metal but whatevs |
ScuroFantasma
11.01.16 | Science is like it's own thing imo, nu-metal isn't super accurate I agree but what else could you call it? I mean funk metal isn't really a thing beyond a really select handful of bands, alternative metal is equally unfit. Even nu-metal itself is such an imprecise tag, most of the bands sound so different from one another. |
rabidfish
11.01.16 | nu metal
not crap
choose one |
iambandersnatch
11.04.16 | i mean deftones aren't crap |
