ThroneOfAgony
05.02.12 | THERE IS NO BAD IRON MAIDEN |
AngelofDeath
05.02.12 | Goddamn, this is a shitty ranking. |
JamieTwort
05.02.12 | Weird ranking. 6, 7 and 9 should be much higher. |
MO
05.02.12 | odd ranking, surprised 3 and 4 are so high while 9 and 13 are so low |
Ovrot
05.02.12 | List isn't bad
it's just kinda weird |
AngelofDeath
05.02.12 | Yeah, how the fuck do you put Virtual XI above Killers? |
Ovrot
05.02.12 | damn angel
you're a jerk
You gotta go and call it shitty |

05.02.12 | My tastes in Maiden's music has always been odd in juxtaposition to popular opinion; I wanted to share
what I thought were their best-to-worst. There isn't anything bad by the band (save for maybe No
Prayer) but I feel that Somewhere in Time, Piece of Mind and Dance of Death are really overlooked.
I may need to re-listen to Killers, but I remember it being very unremarkable when I listened to it.
Not much really stood out to me, and there are maybe two songs I really like from it (Genghis Khan,
Purgatory). |
AngelofDeath
05.02.12 | Lol. You guys are just sugar-coating it, calling it "weird." |
ThroneOfAgony
05.02.12 | who the fuck cares people, it's his ranking. besides, iron maiden has never released anything bad |
AngelofDeath
05.02.12 | Nah, Virtual XI sucks. Not really a fan of 3, 4, 14, or 15 either, though.
I really don't think Piece of Mind is all that overlooked, and as far as their newer stuff, Brave New World is probably the best. |
Venpts16
05.02.12 | I never really understood all of the hype for Brave New World. Though the first three songs and Out of the Silent Planet are extremely good songs, everything else is anywhere from decent (The Mercenary, The Fallen Angel, Blood Brothers) to lower-quality (the album's epics are rather forgettable; though I do remember really liking Dream of Mirrors). |
Colliiiin
05.02.12 | What would you guys consider to be Maiden's "heaviest" release? |
Nagrarok
05.02.12 | Yeah, Piece of Mind is really not overlooked. Putting 6, 7, 9 and 13 where they are is pretty bad.
|
Venpts16
05.02.12 | I personally think Piece of Mind and Somewhere in Time are a bit overlooked compared to the other three of the classic era of the band, though I did word that pretty poorly. I respect your opinions, however; Killers, Number of the Beast, and Powerslave are fairly low by popular opinion. |
Venpts16
05.02.12 | Heaviest album? I'm not very sure; though I think their 90s stuff and a lot of the newer stuff shouldn't qualify (with A Matter of Life and Death being the sole competitor due to its rougher production and darker instrumentation by the band). I'm thinking Powerslave might be, though mostly because of the lack of a ballad on the album and an overall set of fast, heavy songs. "Back in the Village" in particular is extremely fast by Maiden standards. |
CrimsonFloyd
05.02.12 | If you want some killer riffs and heavy bad ass stuff, listen to debut. |
SpiritCrusher2
05.02.12 | 10 is too fucking low |
EyesWideShut
05.02.12 | Virtual XI is my fav Maiden album too! |
MoosechriS
05.02.12 | piece of mind is my personal fave, but i think most people have a different fave maiden album |
FictionalFlames
05.02.12 | How the hell can you put Killers after Virtual XI?! |
EyesWideShut
05.02.12 | cuz Virtual XI is better |
climactic
05.02.12 | 1=the fuck |
Venpts16
05.02.12 | Killers is, personally, fairly boring. The album as a whole feels like an inferior copy of the band's debut, and its just boring by Iron Maiden standards. Though I do like a lot of the songs, but for Iron Maiden's very high standards, it just didn't match up to Virtual XI.
As for that, I think Virtual XI was fairly consistent and I liked the different take on the band's style. The album did have its bad moments, though (The Angel and the Gambler might be the band's worst song). |
Surtur
05.02.12 | 1, 6, 9, 2, 5, 6, 13, 8, 3, 10, 4, 11, 14, 12, 15 |
Venpts16
05.02.12 | Somewhere in Time just might be the best album the band has made; it is the most consistently good album they have made and is the most diverse (in my opinion). Each song brings something different and very enjoyable to the table (Caught Somewhere in Time in standard Maiden, Wasted Years is anthemic, Sea of Madness is a bit more progressive and a tad heavier, etc.). |
Surtur
05.02.12 | Agree with SIT at 1, such a great but underrated album. |
Venpts16
05.02.12 | That was one of my two first Maiden albums; that and Seventh Son both blew my mind when I first heard them. |
Ovrot
05.02.12 | Dance of Death rules |
Inveigh
05.02.12 | s/t and Powerslave are my favorites, and it's not all that close for 3rd |
Venpts16
05.02.12 | The title track is one of my favorite songs of all time; I love all of the melodies from start to finish! |
AngelofDeath
05.02.12 | Yeah, gotta be Powerslave for me. I mean, it opens with Aces High and closes with Rime of the Ancient Mariner. |
Inveigh
05.02.12 | I generally find myself more drawn to the grittier, simpler and more punk-influenced style of the debut, but Powerslave is best when I just want to shred and jam to some classic metal |
agent502
05.02.12 | powerslave is best, somewhere in time second, then killers, then the rest |
Ire
05.02.12 | 1 is best maiden fuck off |
jopower
05.02.12 | Brave New World and Number of the Beast should be ranked higher.

DarkSideOfLucca
05.02.12 | 2 3 and 6 are all tied for number 1 imo lol |

05.03.12 | powerslave at 1 or 2, then we'll talk. |
