Hyperion10000

a little less than 2 years i think on this site and ive made 10000 rcomments. while im not entirely rsure whether i should celebrate or rcry myself to sleep, im commemorating the occasion with a rlist of my rfavorite songs as of this point in time i.e. songs i listen to all the rtime. list is on no rorder really.
1Lantlos
.neon

Pulse/Surreal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=easr-7k4A88 /
at this point its hard for me to choose which lantlos album i like better, but i can definitively
say this song is my favorite of theis. in a little over a minute neige is a part of a song that is
better than the entire collective alcest catalog and the best album to come out of the
generally really fucking shitty "blackgaze" movement of recent years.
2Depravity
Remasquerade

In Death's Embrace: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzarKGb7zSA /
this is my favorite depravity track as well as my favorite finnish death metal
track. everything about it just oozes finnish gloom fuck, and the production
is essentially perfect
3Killing Joke
Night Time

Darkness Before Dawn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzvGF-58BiY /
my favorite killing joke track i think, there are other great tracks but this
one has one of the best guitar lines in post-punk.
4Pestilence
Consuming Impulse

The Trauma: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8A5Kk8IXk0 /
i know out of body is great, and so is the rest of the album, but this track
has always been my favorite pestilence track.
5Portal
Swarth

Writhen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=uzw4x83cREc&feature=plcp&context=C4f9e228VDvjVQa1PpcFMlhIQ-
mk2QeEX-v1G0oLnt37k_z0oHfXc%3D /
its kind of difficult to call a portal track "sing along" but every time the
curator hits the "chorus" i cant help but at least attempt to say IMMURE THE
IMPURITY. rules
6Autechre
Tri Repetae

Eutow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coPcRW1Xm2g /
tri repetae was the first electronic album i think i ever really loved, and this
is definitely the standout track. those synth lines are SOO GOOD LISTEN TO
THIS SHIT POTATO
7Boards of Canada
Music Has the Right to Children

Kani Industries / Bocuma: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-
seONkomyE /
two tracks because i think they flow into each other really well, but the real
stand out is bocuma. its one of the most nostalgic selection of notes i think
ive ever heard, i just wished they'd have fleshed out this idea into a longer
song.
8Weakling
Dead as Dreams

Dead as Dreams: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbvBJMDbyeo /
this song is better than pretty much all of the cascadian scene put
together. wittr probably jack it to this album every night wishing they
would write something as engaging as this album. id probably go as far as
to say this is the best usbm release.
9Whirr
Distressor

Sandy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q99-JLF6Chc /
of all the throwback shoegaze bands popping up these guys are my
favorites so far. the production on this ep is perfect actually, everything is
in this thick dreamy haze thats so good. my favorite song from the album
10Dead Congregation
Graves of the Archangels

Voices: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rI2nMb9YqBE /
Teeth into red has that amazing outro riff, but for pure old school riffs and
everything that makes DC so good, voices is my favorite track from them by
far
11Manilla Road
Crystal Logic

Crystal Logic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-IdBmgLD4Q /
the best heavy metal band ever bad none. Mark chelton is the unsung
guitar hero of our time, god this band is so fucking good
LAAAAAHHHGGGIIICCCCCC
12Oneohtrix Point Never
Replica

Sleep Dealer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaxWq5RP2mM /
while returnal is essentially an ambient album with a few of the tendencies
we see on replica, replica is a whole different beast. it sounds like
someone was listening to returnal while watching an 80's soap opera and
the resulting tape then fucked up in the recorder and birthed this fucked up
mutation. sleep dealer is easily the best track on the album.
13King Diamond
Abigail

The Family Ghost: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGC2iP5ss6E /
hail to the real king baby
14Morbid Angel
Covenant

Pain Divine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smB6TzkJ-X4 /
song is the reason why i think this is the best MA album. so many riffs
damn.
15Biosphere
Substrata

Sphere of No-Form: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pr2odxE0vGw /
its hard to pick a best song on this album because you really cant listen to
it any other way than all the way through, but this if i had to pick this would
be my favorite i think.
16Grouper / Inca Ore
Split

Poison Tree: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X5stzhyS40 /
as much as i enjoy liz's other albums, poison tree is perfection. its
everything she has done in grouper wraped up into one floating, sublime 3
minutes. when she says "take your flowers deep inside of me" i just die
17Gorguts
The Erosion of Sanity

Condemned to Obscurity: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYTpR3VhzUk /
My favorite gorguts track, so many good riffs. they really are the only tech
death band you ever need to hear. the breakdown in the middle is one of
the best break riffs in the history of extreme music fuck it rules,
18Astrofaes
Those Whose Past is Immortal

The Depths of the Past: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zie3NoD0qr4 /
while there are other better ukrainian bands, this song exemplifies the
whole movement better than any i can think of. the opening seconds you
can just feel the sense of ancestry, pride, and heritage these guys are
trying to convey with their music. so good.
19diSEMBOWELMENT
Transcendence into the Peripheral

The Tree of Life and Death: http://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=Rr4jNutSDUE /
There has never been more cavernous, subterranean piece of music
recorded than the material on this album. listening to this track is like being
stuck in a dimly lit cave 5000 feet below the earth being crushed by some
gigantic underworld monstrosity covered in slime and filth.
20 Stargazer / Sacriphyx
Split 12

A.J Shout V.C: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qevWF4gvwYk /
while the stargazer side is rather boring (kind of like everything else they
do) the sacriphyx side is amazing, simply because of this one song. the
intro riff is one of the best things to come out of australia. seriously, just
listen to it. it rules so much.
21Camel
Mirage

Nimrodel - The Procession of the White Rider:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBWGjT-XV6g /
It's really hard to pick a best calem track, but i really think this is the best
camel track. its got everything that makes camel the best prog band ever
and its called Nimrodel.
22Bjork
Vespertine

Undo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYVn1HPkmO0 /
Bjork is amazing, and vespertine is her best album (fuck u ire). her
abnormalities and quirks make everything she does just have so much
resonance and power, and this track pretty much exemplifies that better
than any i think.
23Bal-Sagoth
Starfire Burning Upon the Ice-Veiled Throne

And Lo, When the Imperium Marches Against Gul-Kothoth, Then Dark
Sorceries Shall Enshroud the Citadel of the Obsidian Crown:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fq3g_nRHGyo /
It is my goal one day to become a true warrior, and no band on this earth
fills me with the warrior spirit than Bal-Sagoth. no one else loves this band
quite like i do but i dont give a shit because a true warrior rides alone.
24Torture Chain
Across Great Landscapes to a Legacy of Blood

Part I: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RToGJOW-b0Q /
Torture Chain is fast becoming one of my favorite bands, and this track is
my favorite of theirs. tons of riffs, melodies, raw and punk filled, fuck i love
this band.
25Tim Hecker
Ravedeath, 1972

The Piano Drop: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2elidmusTVg /
ambient to fly away
26GZA
Liquid Swords

Investigative Reports: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sC52mfsugOc /
best hip hop song ever? i think so
27Worship
Last CD Before Doomsday

Whispering Gloom: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cz4_j86KPOA /
late to the party with this album but fuck it rules so much. the clean
sections are so good.
28Trouble
Psalm 9

Assassin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fd0MXTm52Uw /
They just dont make riffs like this anymore boys.
29Solstice [US]
Solstice

Transmogrified: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uRyaYkymJY /
the best death/thrash, so many riffs and angry
30 Nadja & Vampilla
The Primitive World

Icelight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KZCe6bYjzI /
theres no video on youtube of this song but its essentially the reason why
this is the best thing so far this year.
