03.17.12 | What do you do? I'd be willing to work 16 hour shifts if they let me wear headphones |
paxman
03.17.12 | Yeah, work would be such a breeze if I could listen to music. What do you do? |
Funeralopolis
03.17.12 | tell us we must know! |
paxman
03.17.12 | Don't you guys fucking hate it when people don't respond to their own lists? |
jg777
03.17.12 | I'm a Generation Operator, so i basically monitor equipment all day with music playing. |
ThroneOfAgony
03.17.12 | My dream would be able to work and listen to music |
jg777
03.17.12 | I don't alway get to listen to music, today was a good day though. |
paxman
03.17.12 | That's vague. I'm an associate. |
jg777
03.17.12 | Yeah i kind of kept it vague. It's a position with a lot of duties. I work for an electrical company, and my job is to basically stand-by and react to emergencies, alarms, etc. |
paxman
03.17.12 | Oh, that probably gets pretty boring. I can see music making it a lot easier. |
bungy
03.17.12 | At my job the stereo thing sucks dick and only pulls in one radio station which takes the 7 worst contemporary country songs and plays them on repeat and my boss leaves it on all day. Every hour a recording of a cowboy with a deep voice says something fucking annoying like "it makes you laugh, it makes you cry it's REAL....it's country" or something mind boggling like "you know your kids first piano recital, it's the worst music you've ever heard, but the best concert you've ever been to? That's us! Your favorite country station: blah blah blah" |
paxman
03.17.12 | How do you not go insane? |
bungy
03.17.12 | I don't quite go insane because at noon is the Question of the Day which means people call in and try to answer and somehow the phone line singles out people with double digit IQ's and it's always hilarious. Today's was "what will 45% of Americans do next week?" and a woman phoned in and guessed "go to the bathroom" she was wrong |
Yazz_Flute
03.17.12 | So you're a mall security guard but in an electrical company? |
wabbit
03.17.12 | Mine is worse. We play this station called "the blend" on sirus fm and it's the 7 most over produced emotionless makes 40 year old depressed mom's think there life is alright songs ever. But about once every two weeks they change it to "the spectrum" for like half a day and it plays radiohead, springsteen, rem, the beatles, rolling stones, dylan, oasis, nirvana. It's a really good mix of the cream of the radio rock crop. But they always change it back and the knowledge my life could suck so much less is so disheartening.
But last summer I was helping strip out an old elementary school and I worked 5-5 monday-friday but I got to listen to w/e I wanted all day and it was actually pretty awesome. |
jg777
03.17.12 | Mall security guards wish they made the money i make. |
jg777
03.17.12 | It's kind of like I'm my own boss though. Nobody is ever over my shoulder unless it's an emergency, so 3pm-11pm shift and 11pm-7am shift i just sit there and listen to music usually, and i love that. |
Funeralopolis
03.17.12 | so you are homer simpson? |
jg777
03.17.12 | Actually that's almost a perfect way to describe it, just not in a nuclear plant. |
paxman
03.17.12 | I want your job, dude |

03.19.12 | At my job the stereo thing sucks dick and only pulls in one radio station which takes the 7 worst contemporary country songs and plays them on repeat and my boss leaves it on all day. Every hour a recording of a cowboy with a deep voice says something fucking annoying like "it makes you laugh, it makes you cry it's REAL....it's country" or something mind boggling like "you know your kids first piano recital, it's the worst music you've ever heard, but the best concert you've ever been to? That's us! Your favorite country station: blah blah blah"
Sounds exactly like the station that always played at the restaurant i worked at. I hated it so much. |
BallsToTheWall
03.19.12 | 16 hour shift? Wow....major respect. |
laucha1266
