theacademy 01.06.12	the book is decent What the movie loses in translation is most of the investigative stuff (and rightfully so, because if they included everything, it would be a boring ass movie); but like, the combing through records and the photo investigations, etc. is really under-emphasized in the film. What the movie gains by brevity is the elimination of shit characters and subplots (e.g., Cecelia Vanger).

theacademy 01.06.12	when i say i wish i didnt read the book was because it was not worth the time it took... it's a quick read, but apart from the detective stuff/lisbeth, it's a pretty james pattersonish murder mystery... it was basically written like a movie, but when you read the movie after having read the book, all you can think about is what is left out and whether that was a good or bad decision... since i came out thinking "mixed", i think reading the book stopped me from really loving the movie (again, despite not really loving the book either) if that makes any sense lol
