Plains Of The Purple Buffalo
Best Post-Rock album of 2011. From the ground up this thing is completely

Carbon-Based Anatomy
Yeah, I count EP's alongside LP's. This shit rules. Really digging the
transition to progressive rock, and the inclusion of world music makes me

The Color Spectrum (Complete Collection)
I'm pretty sure a lot of people just auto-five'd this thing because it's 144
minutes long, but if one were to take the time to listen to it from start to
finish they'd find that it's worthy of that rating. Everything from the lyrics to

Major/Minor
C'mon. It's fuckin' Thrice playing some Blues'd out Rock, consistently
reminding us just how good they are. The subtle riffs they let loose

Let England Shake
Man, what a voice. She really tortures her vocal chords with the way her
voice jumps around here, and it's awesome. The lyricism is amazing and

The Destroyers Of All
Okay, they seriously need to hire somebody to come up with better album
names. That aside, this album is fucking heavy as shit -- but because of the
tense, immersible atmosphere rather than flat out brutality. A breath of

Holy shit, The Roots did a concept album. It fucking rules, as expected. 'I
Remember' may be my favorite single song this year. The four instrumental

Sit Resist
Transcends the "cute indie girl" sound to write an album that consistently
floors me. After getting over falling in love with Laura Stevenson, I think I
can say with confidence that this album will be looked back upon as one of
the finest releases of the early 2010's. Every song sounds different, yet it

Oneirology
Best production on an album this year, hands down. I don't think Kno could
have made a more perfect mood and atmosphere for an album named after
the study of dreams. Although this isn't as good as A Piece of Strange, this

Huge step up from their debut. Less recorded-in-a-cave gang vocals, more
varied instrumentation and overall darker mood earns Fantano's number
