| What Does Spiderland Mean To You?
I know y'all have seen this album countless times on my lists and it's probably one of the most overplayed post-rock albums in the history of mankind, but there is something about it that draws me in every time I give it a spin. It has helped me through my daily monotonous struggles, family problems, and personal issues, as well. But what does this album mean to you? What kind of meaning do you get, when you listen to this piece of work? Discuss | 1 | | Slint Spiderland

12.21.11 | you mean colours um i duno i guess they help distinguish things | FamooseMoose
12.21.11 | It's tragic and emotionally exhausting, a true classic record. Washer is my favorite song of the album. Too bad I can't seem to find anything like it (with vocals). | patroneyes
12.21.11 | got this shit on vinyl | balcaen
12.21.11 | i am gonna cheese on this but, writing-wise, it's one of my favorite albums of all-time. every track has some sort of element that strikes me with me. the overall lethargic, but progressing instrumentation just follows the narrative so well and increases tension as the song progresses until it's dropped off abruptly as if it never happened. shit is intense.
breadcrumb trail is a perfect example of tiny little encounters in life that manifest without real reason or follow-up, but stay with us regardless, just as absurdly vibrant memories.
washer might be about suicide, generally a reflection of death. coming to terms with leaving behind anything you truly care about
don, aman is my favorite. a generally unsettling and realistic-feeling picture of what it's like to have social anxiety
nosferatu man is creepy as fuck. though if you've ever felt trapped inside your own body, this track feels that frustration
for dinner... is for dinner... necessary instrumental to transition to good morning, captain in processing repressed memories.
that's just my take on it. can't believe i haven't rated it yet. weird.
oh and i bought a t-shirt with the spiderland cover on it. came in yesterday. yay | wabbit
12.22.11 | it's like a 2.5 tops. Post-Rawk gets a lot more interesting musically and I mean if I wanted songwriting like that I would just listen to songwriting like that that's way better. | LegendofPittman
12.22.11 | 4.5 almost a 5 for me. The atmosphere captures me on this album, it's dark and brooding, and it's freaking consistent. Not a bad song on the album, and they all intertwine with the same mood and flow. | pcar
12.22.11 | I MISS YOU | wabbit
12.22.11 | "and they all intertwine with the same mood and flow."
this so much...it's a bad thing. Juxtaposition is so important on an album like how "electioneering" is a pretty meh song" but it follow "fitter happier" so perfectly because I have yet to commit suicide. But this is just the same mood all the time and it really drags it down. | robertsona
12.22.11 | you seem to imply that an album can't be good unless it has a shitty song or two to balance it | LegendofPittman
12.22.11 | ^ @rabbit I actually agree that albums need diversity, I usually get bored if some albums have the same monotonous mood, but this one really captures me. I think it's almost that this album has a groove to it, each song sounds the same but yet there are characteristics that are different. That's what makes or breaks a mood for me, whether each song can still have it's own characteristic but keep the atmosphere. | Divine
12.22.11 | Nice, balcaen | balcaen
12.22.11 | i am a cheeseball |
