Pop-punk Is A-ok
Since listening to ...Is A Real Boy a few days ago, I'm again enjoying pop-punk again. The genre gets a lot of slack it doesn't deserve, so below are some of my favorite albums in the genre. Recs are very much appreciated, 'cause my knowledge of the genre is pretty limited.
The guys that started it all. Hilarious lyrics, fast songs, too much fun. Their first four albums are all equally good. Not much I can say, that hasn't been said about them, but they are kind of the perfect party band.
Rocket To Russia
Road To Ruin
Singles Going Steady
One of the great British punk bands. Their music hasn't dated one bit. Got the "Never Mind The Buzzcocks"-quiz named after them, which is also really fun.
They could be called the Irish Ramones, but actually they're better.
Walk Among Us
Maybe a bit of a stretch to call these guys "pop", but those lyrics man! I TURNED INTO A MARTIAN, WHOAWHOAOA
Milo Goes To College
Considered by many to be the first "modern" pop-punk album. It's just really good.
Loved by many, hated by equally as many. I don't care, this is a milestone in the genre.
Hitler Bad, Vandals Good
Hilarious. Listen to this yesterday if you're a fan of sarcastic, cynic and morbid humor.
All Killer No Filler
When they were actually enjoyable
Never liked Blink that much, until I really listened to their s/t again recently. Now I really like this album, the rest of the discog is still pretty hit-or-miss though.
...Is A Real Boy
My reason to start this list. Can't stop listening to this. Great lines, terrific song structures and super catchy. It also gets bonus points for sounding refreshing without resorting to experimenting with "special" instruments or electronics.
|14|| ||Panic! At The Disco|
A Fever You Can't Sweat Out
Call it nostalgia maybe, but I still absolutely love this record. Their other albums are terrible, sadly.
|15||Bomb The Music Industry!|
One of the best albums I heard this year, and the best I heard in the genre period. Smart lyrics, witty and humorous, fantastic song structures, super catchy hooks, riffs and chorusses, and probably the best transitions between songs and overall album flow ever... Yeah, I adore this record.
I'll leave this for andcas to deal with.
Nah, it deserves it.
Stranger, a lot of the genre indeed sucks, but there are plenty of gems as well.
Yeah, there's a lot of good pop-punk out there, maybe check out a few of these:
The Ergs! - Dorkrockcorkrod
House Boat - The Delaware Octapus
The Dopamines - Expect the Worst
Park - It Wont Snow Where Youre Going
The Wonder Years - The Upsides
Thanks man! Will do!
Have heard some good things about House Boat already.
There are a few gems, sure, I used to be quite into the genre when I was first breaking into music. But I'll listen to pop-punk albums people on here praise through the roof and they bore me. Might be something to do with culture though, pop-punk is pretty US-centric.
Dude, definitely check out Northstar - Pollyanna, it's one of the best pop-punk albums ever, for me at least.
I don't like pop punk.
Set Your Goals - Mutiny!
Bears & Bright Lights - Bears & Bright Lights
Mayday Parade - A Lesson In Romantics
Thanks for the recs, guys! Keep 'em Coming
13 is so overrated. And Enema of the State is Blink's best album.
Try Screeching Weasel.
15 is ska punk
I heard you moping the other day that 15 "barely contains any ska anymore", so yeah ;)
I just consider it within the genre because it's just so darn catchy. Doesn't really matter, actually
The Ergs!- Dorkrockcorkrod
House Boat- The Thorns of Life
House Boat- The Delaware Octopus
Lifetime- Jersey's Best Dancers
RVIVR- Dirty Water EP
Latterman- No Matter Where We Go...!
Joyce Manor- Joyce Manor
Junior Battles- Idle Ages
Like Bats- Look on the Bright Side
Banner Pilot- Pass the Poison
Iron Chic- Not Like This
Descendents- Milo Goes to College
Cheap Girls- Find Me A Drink Home
Crimpshrine- Duct Tape Soup
Heckle- We're Not Laughing With You
How Do We Jump This High?- Deep Stationary
How Do We Jump This High?- Funny/Not Funny

The Livingbrooks- Night of the Livingbrooks
NOFX- Punk in Drublic (more punk less pop)
Massive list Blackbelt, thanks!
Already listened to House Boat, I liked it, but I'll have to listen some more.
Also, Milo Goes To College is already on the list ;)
yeah I copied and pasted this from another list I gave recs on, that's why Milo is on here
Misfits have some really poppy songs
14 is abysmal ,that fags can suck my dick ,the rest is pretty good
Just stumbled onto this, great list.
I recently listened to 7 and definitely think it's pop punkish
I'm contemplating doing a 100 item pop punk list and 5-10 would all be on it
man so many awesome albums left out of this list but most things here are pretty rad
Nice lists andcas, ideal material for the coming summer.
And yeah, this is by no means a definite list, just a couple of albums that are really cool.
yes! this lists has so many goodies.
well i'm pretty sure brand new counts as pop-punk...
Cartel - Chroma
no one on this site ever mentions the dangerous summer or strange vacation which would be the two best pop punk bands in this thread. misser's new album is pretty awesome too, might grow into my fav.
