Favorite Discoveries Of 2007
Albums that didn't come out in 2007, but I just got and loved. |
| 1 | | Elliott Smith XO
I don't know what took me so long to get into Elliott, but his music is brilliant and XO is the pinnacle of his music that I have thus far. |
| 2 | | Trilok Gurtu and the Frikyiwa Family Farakala
Trilok Gurtu is a godly percussionist, and his collaboration with the Frikyiwa Family's music makes for one amazing album. |
| 3 | | Yusef Lateef Eastern Sounds
As I've really gotten into Eastern music lately, this album really helped me transition from Western to Eastern music. |
| 4 | | Arvo Part Alina
Hard to listen to because its so minimalistic, but it really accompanies a lonely mood better than anything else. |
| 5 | | Imogen Heap Speak for Yourself
This woman has a great voice and a mind for pop music like none of her contemporaries. |
| 6 | | The Red Paintings Walls [EP]
After endless searching, I finally got a hold of this and it's really awesome music. The cover of Mad World is one of the best. |
| 7 | | Nitin Sawhney Beyond Skin
Such an emotional, poignant album with incredible variety. Review coming soon for details. |
| 8 | | DJ Shadow Live! In Tune and On Time
Apparently Shadow has a great live show as well. |
| 9 | | Converge Jane Doe
This is one of the few metalcore albums I actually like. |
| 10 | | Ani DiFranco Evolve
It's amazing that Ani could create even one enjoyable album with the rate at which she puts this stuff out, but this is low-key, subdued, and pretty cool stuff. |
