| No Justice (a Rant)
I'm gonna keep this short, but it's just something I feel I need to get
off my chest, because it irks me so much (perhaps more than it
should). Anyway, there's this local band from where I'm from who I
know a few of the members in. Now, they've done pretty well making
a name for themselves from nothing so far (they won a contest giving
them the chance to go on a nation-wide tour, so a big deal) and I
applaud them for that. The problem is that they're music is really
pretty awful. It's generic as shit, uninspired and the vocalist is fucking
dreadful. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm probably jealous as any
musical projects I've been in never went anywhere, but at least they
had a decent amount of creativity and didn't churn out unoriginality
at it's finest like these guys do.
Anyway, just wanted to let off some steam. List is digs. | 1 | | Botch We Are The Romans | 2 | | These Arms Are Snakes Tail Swallower And Dove | 3 | | The Sound Of Animals Fighting The Ocean And The Sun | 4 | | Underoath Lost In The Sound Of Separation | 5 | | Misfits American Psycho | 6 | | Thrice The Illusion Of Safety | |

09.18.11 | If they made music that was mildly original, it wouldn't be a problem, but I just can't help but think "Why?".
And Deviant, I think I meant to write 'musicianship' instead. My bad.
Edit: Also, the wrong 'their' as well. See, my brain really isn't working. | Deviant.
09.18.11 | So because YOU don't like them it must stand to reason that no one else will like them thus they should never be allowed to attain any measure of "success", right? What are you, a child? | TheArkitecht
09.18.11 | I can see what you're getting at here, and I've noticed the same in the past in my local scene. Unfortunately it seems that originality is rarely rewarded and most people just want to hear the same garbage again and again. | dimsim3478

09.18.11 | Deviant, that's not what I'm saying at all. It's more of that they've reached quite a credible amount of fame and they (IN MY OPINION) sound really generic. I believe it's as TheArkitecht says; people just want to hear the same thing over and over again. Once again, I'm happy for them, it just irks me that they aren't really that good at all. It's as if they're only big because they have heaps of friends to make them popular as opposed to good musicianship.
Here's a link to one of their tracks:
