It's weird to search for people you used to know and find that they're completely different now. Like one of my friends in high school used to be this total tomboy punk girl, but now she has rainbow pot leaves tattooed on her ribcage and is a raver/slutty Asian girl (funnily enough, she and I used to hate on those types).

Acanthus 09.01.11	You didn't ruin anything, no worries (it's fun to be melodramatic on the internet). I actually never search for anyone, they all just seem to find me. A lot of the friends I had through school end up not talking to me (religious reasons mainly, differing views) and that's fine. Since I mess with the industrial nights a lot of my friends are now far older which is strange to consider.
Acanthus 09.01.11	@Masochist - absolutely sir! I went from being average/inconspicuous to looking like a gothic rocker; tattoo's, piercings, make-up, all of it. I'm also far more curious about things and have a decidedly atheistic viewpoint towards religion, I'm sure a lot of people are surprised by my changes as well.

I've definitely changed a lot over the past few years, but I think most people expected the whole getting tattoos and wearing more black clothes thing from me, haha.
Acanthus 09.01.11	The visual changes are the ones readily available to the "public" eye but I really enjoy the mental/emotional changes as well. One of my friends went from being a bow hunting, Halo playing nerd to a devout Christian who goes to Haiti to help out the poor. It's weird to see him like that, and we don't get along since he views me as "lost" but it seems to make him happy. No one really expected anything from me, but I like where I am for the most part.

Your friend should learn from Christ. The only people he hung around with were those who didn't believe in him, because overall they were much more genuine and caring individuals. Acanthus 09.01.11	It only happens on occasion, he asked once if I believed in the devil (or Satan, not sure on exact wording) and one of my other buddies (a devout Catholic, he's insanely awesome and has never batted an eye at anything I do/wear) was like "I'm pretty sure he's an atheist, so that'd be no" I was pretty impressed to say the least, an opened the post up to discussion between the three of us but my other friend never replied, just dropped the subject and hasn't really spoken to me since other than to ask if I "wanted to run the world" or some such.

Vesper 09.01.11	Well, I was the "crazy artist girl" at my high school - one of my friends wrote a senior yearbook page about me and he collected all these joke quotes from my friends like "She isn't emo, she's just misunderstood!" But, yeah, you get my drift - people who've kept up with me aren't surprised at the way my music tastes and my image (lol) have progressed. Unless they talk to me a lot, they wouldn't know much about my ideological changes over the years, though. My Christian friends at college and my church back in Georgia had a talk with me when I announced my atheism, but they're all pretty smart and didn't do the whole "lost sheep" thing on me.
Acanthus 09.01.11	Good for you miss! As for being a "crazy artist girl" I must say that they are always interesting, art is something I cannot due yet I love to observe. My family doesn't enjoy speaking with me, I'm not allowed inside their home unless I look "normal" and such; I think they recently figured out my atheism, hence the not speaking to me for an even longer than normal period of time.

You know it seems like such a simple task but you look around and see all the pretenders it's quite discouraging. To be healthy I believe solidarity is equally important as friendship and family. Neither one overlapping the other. You just gotta hang out on your own every once in awhile, find yourself, which by today society is uncool. There is so much pressure and stigma about solidarity like it's almost shunned upon.
