08.31.11 | Expecting the answer to be a resounding NO, but then again I might be wrong. In b4 "your music sucks" or "I listen to The Dangerous Summer" while lifting the pretty pink dumbbells. |

08.31.11 | It seems like most people quit when they quit playing football after high school but that's when I started getting serious. The hardest thing is getting started again to be honest. |

08.31.11 | RedHood, I feel like the tobacco and booze related lists on this site have many more responses so I expect quite the opposite. Hipsters don't lift weights. |

08.31.11 | i work out 3 times a week just at the house. chin-up bar for 30 reps, 40 ab-wheel extensions, 50 pushups, 60 tricep dips, 40 kickbacks |
xandermander
08.31.11 | How's that working out for you? |
Scoot
08.31.11 | not bad, actually. started about a year and a half ago and by adding that to the leg training i get from warehouse work/playing sports, i've managed to add 35 pounds to my feeble 130 pound frame. it's just about staying motivated enough to keep it going. |
Scoot
08.31.11 | and eating more obviously |
AngelofDeath
08.31.11 | Yeah, I got a bench at home. Mostly just do basic stuff (barbell curls, bench press, squats, etc.). |
xandermander
08.31.11 | I'm glad you threw in that last part. It's all about eating the size you want to be, which obviously costs more money and takes a shitload of extra effort throughout the day. |
Scoot
08.31.11 | yeah it's tough, but the results are well worth it. i used to feel really self-conscious, especially because of the stereotypes that men have to be massive to get respect. now it's not nearly as bad, and i've actually gotten a few compliments. |
FromDaHood
08.31.11 | I still play sports being in high school and all but lift a little in the offseason. Definitely no powerlifting or anything. |
xandermander
08.31.11 | It's not being pretty or any self-image type of thing. I mean I peaked at about 260 lbs and still had a relatively low bodyfat (around 15%, not fully visible abs or anything), it's more for me about the thrill of moving some heavy ass weights. Picking 635 lbs. up off the floor is hard to compare with any other form of achievement. |
BallsToTheWall
08.31.11 | Work out 4-5 times a week. Focus on heavy compound exercises as well as basic isolation. Weighted pull-ups,dips, cleans, snatches, presses, deadlifts, etc. |

08.31.11 | Nothing beats a good snatch, though i must admit I completely suck at them. Clean and Jerk is more my cup of tea. |

08.31.11 | i just started lifting at school a few days ago. i'll go, run, lift for about 45 minutes, then eat a meal (usually with meat and milk as a drink). we'll see how it works out for me. |

Too much milk is bad for you man. |

08.31.11 | Endorphins ftw. I lift primarily to feel better. I have more energy, I sleep better, and am generally in a better mood. The physical results are simply an added bonus. |

08.31.11 | Doesnt matter, salted and roasted destroy ther nutrients. I think if you throw in a handful in a daily smoothie with flax seed, blueberries, and egg protein you'll be set. |

08.31.11 | Trap Them on the treadmill is a booster. |

08.31.11 | I don't exactly do the health thing. I'm a natural ectomorph so I have to eat in the neighborhood of 10,000 calories per day to maintain 250 lbs. Lots of pie, ice cream, peanut butter, and red meat. I also smoke around a pack every 4 days and struggle to tie my shoes without turning red in the face. Health is far from a concern of mine. |

08.31.11 | Closing in and flucuates at 160 to 165. That diet makes makes me feel good about being addicted to waffle house and corn dogs. However, im pretty much just aiming to be consistently 170 for my first goal. Then later on focus on trying to reach the 175-180 mark for my permanent weight. |

08.31.11 | exercise helped me get out of some serious depression. I still incorporate at least an hour of pretty intense exertion every day, usually use my own bodyweight, but freeweights once in a while too and lots of stretching. |
xandermander
08.31.11 | If you are that close to your goal then I agree there's no need to rush. I would also like to state that if I wasn't at a low bodyfat I'd probably already be at a very high risk for diabetes and probably a heart attack lol. They say my blood pressure is already through the roof but then again my arms are 17.5" around and they put it on so fuggin tight that it makes my veins pop and they get some retarded reading and say I'm going to die every time. |

08.31.11 | My friends in vero converted their living room to a BJJ station and have alot of people come train, including cops. They are thinking of doing a 40 dollar a month deal. Good idea and it's convenient as fuck. They know what they are doing and it's 90 bucks cheaper than anywhere in the shithole of south Florida. I think, im gonna take a few months off in December and just train. |

08.31.11 | I really enjoy hitting the gym, going at least 3x a week makes me a very happy man. Lately I've been neglecting it, and it's annoying; going to have to make time for it! 08.31.11 | Yeah, I do for track, but I'm weak and skinny as hell. I squat ~180 (I mean, that's not THAT bad considering how skinny I am) and bench like 115 as a max (which isn't even at my weight, which is a pathetic 118-122 lol). |

So I signed up for a weight training class for school (fulfills a P.E. credit), and combining that with the free Bodyworks membership I get from my apartment complex, hopefully I'll get into some shape this year.
