Best Of : 10 Metal Albums That Kick Ass

The metal world is damn vast. My mid-2011 top 10 selection.rYES, I RUDE/USELESS COMMENTS. So just don't bother...
1Animosity
Animal

Tell me about a band who deserted when the were finally getting right, very right. Jazz metal in its own way.
2Architects
Hollow Crown

A well-supported essay on the mechanics of anger, sadness and all around feeling of emptiness. Carter is
great at what he does, very honest and soulful in its very own way. Monolithic, massive
record.
3Between the Buried and Me
The Silent Circus

There's no need at add anything here. Camilla Rhodes forever. BTBAM will remain as gods even though
they're getting lost somewhere weird as of 2011.
4Bring Me the Horizon
Count Your Blessings

You'll throw tomatoes at me, but I persist and sign : this is a solid, brutal record. A little childish, perhaps, but
that's the emblematic deathcore album by excellence, in my opinion.
5Cave In
Until Your Heart Stops

The creativity here keeps me entertained after 13 years. It manages to get that weight and feel you want
without feeling overproduced.
6Cephalic Carnage
Anomalies

Here again, pretty much nothing to add. Insane ideas, themes and rendering.
Powerful, loud record.
7Embrace the End
Ley Lines

This album leaves me speechless. Creative solos, harsh vocals, everchanging riffs and patterns that just KILL.
8The Faceless
Planetary Duality

Metal at its coldest and most technical. That's almost too precise, too square. The Faceless is no man but a
MACHINE. Just a little less than Indricothere.
9Mastodon
Crack the Skye

Enormous, brooding, poetic and heavy. Very very balanced metal album.
10Stray From the Path
Make Your Own History

Their sophomore album is energy-filled as many metal albums are, but it's not your usual fix. Listening to it
is like crowd-surfing on fists. Too short an album, but a hell of a ride. It just sounds different. Great
musicianship all around.
