| Albums I'd Like To Live In
Sort of the part 2 to my previous list, these are 10 albums in a rough
order which I'd love to live in | 1 | | Dave Matthews Band Crash
Just the happiest, summeriest album of all time for me, it brings back great
memories and it has even greater songs on it. The bridge of 'Lie In Our
Graves' is the single minute of music I'd most like to live in, also. | 2 | | She & Him Volume One
Basically an eternal summer, this album is so joyous and so firmly rooted in
the innocence of the 60s that one can't help but swoon longingly. | 3 | | Radiohead In Rainbows
The best word I can think of to describe this album is 'warm.' It's just got
such an inviting sound, helped to no end by the production, that I want to
dive into it, the ending of 'Nude' especially. | 4 | | Susanne Sundfor The Brothel
Whilst this might seem like an odd choice to those who have heard it, I'm a
huge fan of noir stylings, and this album has them in bucketloads. It's like a
detective movie from the 40s for the ears, and for that reason I know I'd be
engrossed in it the second I stepped into it's world. | 5 | | The Tallest Man On Earth The Wild Hunt
Whilst a lot of the lyrics on here could be interpreted in less than happy
ways, the overall feel of this album is so redemptive that I can't help but
get a positive vibe from it overall. It's so perfectly evocative of early spring
in terms of atmosphere that it'd be a joy to step into it's world. | 6 | | Miles Davis Kind of Blue
The only problem with living in this album would be the fact that nobody
would get any work done; they'd all be too relaxed, and that's why this
album would be amazing to live in. | 7 | | Sufjan Stevens Illinois
I'm not necessarily referring to the state of Illinois here, just to living in the
images which Stevens conjures up here. If there's one song I'd like to live
in, it's 'The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades is out to get us!' Probably the
most comforting song of all time. | 8 | | LCD Soundsystem This Is Happening
This might seem like an odd choice, but from the tongue in cheek opening of
Dance Yrself Clean to the resigned, calm vibe at the end of the last track
Home, this album would be a crazy mismash of emotions to live in, but
they're all positive. | 9 | | Norah Jones Feels Like Home
The ultimate winter album, this is such a relaxing, restrained tour de force
of atmosphere that I could quite happily reside in it's world forever. | 10 | | Porcupine Tree Lightbulb Sun
Even though the lyrics here are depressing, they're undeniably redemptive
at points, and the album is the most perfect evocation of bittersweet
nostalgia that one could hope for. So, an odd choice to start this list off
with, but a fitting one nonetheless. | |
