05.07.11 | If you haven't heard Blind Melon Live at the Palace, it is worth a spin. Something tells me you have though...anyway, I think that Shannon Hoon has a great voice and it's a cool album to hear him live. That last bit was a little bit redundant. me words no good. fire bad. |
omnipanzer
05.07.11 | Thanks for the critique and I will give "Blind Melon Live at the Palace" a spin. I have not listened to it although it is right of of t assume I had (if that makes sense). I had been putting that one off actually. ;^P |
savagecabbage
05.07.11 | haha, yeah blind melon has that rep of being a one hit wonder. Album is good for what it is, you may enjoy it. |
omnipanzer
05.07.11 | No I'm to old to make that mistake. I just doubt they would make it on this list is all. I didn't think I was missing out by not seeing it but you have made me second guess not having seen it at all. ;^) |
JamieTwort
05.07.11 | Nice list omni. 3 and 14 are my favourites on here (really digging Tull at the moment). |
Chrisjon89
05.07.11 | "If you actually need an explanation go back and reread the tittle you twat." lol

Chrisjon89
05.07.11 | I never really got into live albums that much (with a few exceptions) until I started listening to jazz. And also Bjork's 'Vespertine Live' is very good. |
AngelofDeath
05.07.11 | This is a really nice list. Portishead and the Tull - fucks yeah. m/ |
omnipanzer
05.07.11 | lol AoD |
AngelofDeath
05.07.11 | Needs Exit... Stage Left, obv, but I know you just forgot. |
omnipanzer
05.07.11 | It's on my first list and I felt it was way obvious. There have been lots of write ups on it over the years and I don't think I would be adding anything new. but yah it is one of my faves. |
AngelofDeath
05.07.11 | Oh, I guess I never saw the first one. |
Bloodbirds
05.07.11 | 2 is brilliant. And 'Eyesight to the Blind' has Santana playing with EC. |
omnipanzer
05.07.11 | @Aod it's the go live or go home list.
@Bloodbirds thanks and nice point. |
Phideaux
05.07.11 | Great choice with Counting Crows. |
Jethro42
05.07.11 | Woodstock (#9) >>> the list save Jethro Tull (#14) which back in the day were performing their powerful blues rock, just before they turned to a prog band with 'Aqualung'. It was during the England's ''Woodstock'' (the UK's answer to Woodstock). I wish I had the DVD (I only have the audio version).
3 and 6 are good, 11 is excellent. I'm quite interested in 5, 12 and maybe 15.
Good work on the list, bro.
|
omnipanzer
05.08.11 | Thanks Jethro, "5, 12 and maybe 15" are all excellent and you can't go wrong with any of them imo. |
Jethro42
05.08.11 | I've heard good things about Violent Femmes but didn't like what I've listened to so far. I might utube some Eponymous samples to see if I'd change my mind. Also, all I know about Van Morrison is his couple of hits we all heard at the radio. Shame on me?
|
Spec
05.08.11 | Dayum, well worth the feature. |
Nagrarok
05.08.11 | 6 is one of those rare occasions where a live album is the band's best work, 3 and 15 are great too. Have yet to hear 11, and might listen to 1 because I love August and Everything After. For me there's only a handful of live records that surpass the value of a classic LP (Deep Purple's Made in Japan and The Who's Live at Leeds come first to mind), but you make some convincing arguments here. |
JamieTwort
05.08.11 | Made in Japan is my favourite live album of all time. |
NigelH
05.09.11 | Good list. Gotta pick some of these up. |
omnipanzer
05.09.11 | @ Nag "Have yet to hear 11, and might listen to 1 because I love August and Everything After."
I only consider 11 to be a "must" for real fans of S&G which I think you are (if I remember correctly). 1 Is an absolute must fore anyone who likes August and satellites IMO.
@Jethro,
Van Morrison is a giant from the time frame we tend to love 60's-70's but he was skiffel and then broke off toward more of a jazz/jazz-rock vein in comparison to his blues-rock contemporaries. I honestly can't imagine someone having never at least giving "Moondance" a listen. If you like it try "Hard Nose the Highway. After those if you want to try something a little more inaccessible go with "Veedon Fleece" and if you aren't turned off after those try the rest of his earlier catalog based on ratings.
Thanks to everyone else for the compliments. |
Maniac!
05.09.11 | Omni... You are now required to make 1 list every day that has absolutely no value to the community whatsoever.
Failure to comply will result in your excommunication from the sputbuds |
omnipanzer
05.09.11 | Lol, the only problem is... I don't have that much time ;^)
How about I get drunk, troll noobs and bump my sputbuds lists randomly to artificially inflate the # of comments they get? |
Maniac!
05.09.11 | That sounds fine. We need more of those. |
omnipanzer
05.09.11 | Consider it done sir ;^) |
Jethro42
05.14.11 | Portishead is gorgeous |
omnipanzer
05.18.11 | Yah Jethro, that album Specifically is a great example of what a live album really has the ability to be. |
omnipanzer
05.24.11 | Thanks Sonic, The way I heard that being typed was a combination of surprise and congratulations.
Thank you |
