Qwe Hop

Favourite rap albums not ranked because fuck that shit. might describe ones i'm really passionate about though idk see how this goes aye
1AZ
Doe or Die

Love this guy's flow. The way he'll spit rapidly about something in detail from one angle and end it with something short and rhythmically disconnected is so effective. plus his internal rhymes kick ass on this. key verse is prob the second one of "Uncut Raw" but if you want a taste of him at his best check out his verse on "Life's a Bitch" off Illmatic, where he actually out-raps 1994 era Nas.
2Big Boi
Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty

Massive beats, impressive production value coupled with Big Boi's charisma enhance his already stellar flow and lyrics. Rap album for everyone. There's a fucking VERDI sample in there. yeahhhhhh. Speaking of, key verse for me is probably the opener in "General Patton".
3Big L
Lifestylez ov Da Poor and Dangerous

Lyrics Lyrics Lyrics. Cut short in his prime, Big L's lines represent the pinnacle of gritty street rap that NYC hip hop achieved in the earlyish 90s. key verse is the last verse of "Street Struck"
4Blackalicious
Blazing Arrow

Underground rap group's aboveground debut. production is some of the best i've heard plus Gift of Gab is one of the most dextrous emcees. key verse is all of Chemical Calastenics, esp the last part where Gab goes offff
5Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
E 1999 Eternal

lightning fast flows bitchezzzzzzz
6Canibus
Rip The Jacker

listen to Poet Laureate II. just fucking listen to it
7Company Flow
Funcrusher Plus

took ages to get into fuckiofnbpakdfbkpjdfskdjfhagd;skl
8Cyne
Evolution Fight

beats on this are pretty fucking groovy. best verse first of "growing" hell yeah
9De La Soul
3 Feet High and Rising

ok descriptions got boring real fast but i love the bouncy feel of this compared to their others. it's also catchy as fuck. best verse is also on the best song, "This Is A Recording 4 Living In A Fulltime Era (L.I.F.E.)," and it's the opening one. or the mid. or the end. ugh.
10Deltron 3030
Deltron 3030

opening one of "mastermind" plus that beats so catchy
11Dr. Octagon
Dr. Octagonecologyst

he has a song called Halfsharkalligatorhalfman nuff said bitches
12Eminem
The Eminem Show

Yeah def not his best but first eminem album I heard yr 5 or something fuck yeah best verse is probably the end one for my dads gone crazy but no one agrees prob idk but fuck its awesome how he starts out calm but as he gets to the point he gets more and more loud and its aslf;kasbdjkfjksv
13Eminem
The Marshall Mathers LP

Easily his strongest. Drug Ballad is one of the best rap songs ever. best verse is the first off that song. YOU ARE NOW ALLOWED TO OFFICIALLY SLAP BITCHES
14Eric B & Rakim
Paid in Full

best verse is actually so hard but probably sth off title track or It Aint No Joke idk stop sweatin' me
15Ghostface Killah
Ironman

Winter Warz. Ghost's verse obv. fuck yeah. although masta killahs verse is awes too
16Ghostface Killah
Supreme Clientele

Apollo Kids. Ghost's verse obv. fuck yeah.
17Geto Boys
We Can't Be Stopped

mmmm houston rap. these dudes rule. funky as shit southern beats, lyrics focused on murder, gore, necrophilia, psychosis etc all that yummy stuff. beginning of dirty south. bushwick bill and scarface just rip the mic apart. check out "Mind Playing Tricks on Me" and "The Other Level"
18Goodie Mob
Soul Food

Oh yeaaaaaaah. If Geto Boys started dirty south these guys brought it into prominence. Title track and "The Coming" are favs
19GZA
Liquid Swords

one of the best albums of all time. blew my mind the first time I heard it. His inventive combinations of words keep me interested every time. the best verse is the entirety of the title track, esp the clock radio speakers line. "Gold" rules also. but really, GZA is on point every single track.
20Jay-Z
Reasonable Doubt

I think it's Hydeyo's review that sums it up: Rap perfection. everything you want in a rap record is here: lyrics that work on a basic as well as a holistic level (probably the weakest aspect of the record but the way the lyrics gel is irresistible), unique flow and delivery, charisma and amazing production. And it all fits together uncannily. Jay-Z's best, and the most listenable "classic" rap album ever. i could listen to this album any time anywhere
21Jeru the Damaja
The Sun Rises in the East

"Jungle Music"
22Clipse
Hell Hath No Fury

Fuck yeah southern rap. fuck yeah Pusha T. fuck yeah "Trill" and "Momma I'm So Sorry"
23Kanye West
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

Really don't want to talk about this anymore but fuck it rules so hard. Ye's 2nd verse on "Dark Fantasy," Pusha T's in Runaway and Nicki Minaj's in "Monster" are favs.
24Lil Wayne
Da Drought 3

Not an album but it contains some of the best rap ever so fuck everyone. His flow is out of this world and his lyrics are tops too. Best verses include the entirety of "Upgrade," since it's just one freestyle, the entirety of "Ride 4 My Niggas," "Swizzy (remix)" plus "We Takin Over"
25Lil Wayne
Tha Carter III

I think this is one of the best rap albums ever as well as the best of the 2010s. The amount of variety in it is astounding, both musically and thematically. And further than that it still manages to sound coherent. The only real problem with it is the tracklisting. He could have left out "La La" altogether since Busta Rhymes ruins it and "Got Money" is pretty meh too. key verses are all of "3 Peat," the first of "Dr. Carter" and "A Milli" duh.
26Madvillain
Madvillainy

Doom's lyrics are astounding on this plus this was when Madlib actually did stuff.
27Mos Def
The Ecstatic

Better than Black on Both Sides. best track is probably "life in marvelous times"
28Mobb Deep
Hell on Earth

Prefer this to The Infamous actually.
29Nas
Illmatic

Perfect rap album. every track is amazing and he doesn't slip up any time. "It Ain't Hard To Tell" and "Memory Lane (Sittin' In Da Park)" are two of the best hip hop songs of all time. Plus premo is in his element.
30The Notorious B.I.G.
Ready to Die

"How ya livin' Biggie Smalls?" "In mansions 'n benzes/Giving ends to my friends and it feels stupendous"
31Organized Konfusion
Stress: The Extinction Agenda

Pharoahe Monch's flow on this is just unreal, plus Po is severely underrated. both their verses on "Bring it On" are mindblowing.
32 Outkast
Aquemeni

Two insanely skilled but completely different rappers both at their peaks. The contrast between Andre's wacky, rapidfire genius and Big Boi's salty, charismatic, brilliant boasts is addictive. "Rosa Parks" is a perfect example of this, plus "SpottieOttieDopaliscious"
33Outkast
ATliens

Opening song is fire. As is whole album.
34Outkast
Stankonia

Fuck these guys rule. b.o.b. obv plus humble mumble and ms jackson
35Pharoahe Monch
Internal Affairs

I'm a fanboy stfu.
36 Public Enemy
It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back

fuck descriptions are getting boring i shouldnt have to explain this a[dovabdkjasdasfsdfb
37Public Enemy
Fear of a Black Planet

or this
38Raekwon
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...

"Ice Cream," "Criminology" & "Verbal Intercourse"
39Raekwon
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... Pt II

"Pyrex Vision," "Penitentiary"
40Scarface
The Diary

"One," "Hand of the Dead Body"
41Snoop Dogg
Doggystyle

The coolest motherfucker ever. Never did anything this good ever again. The Doggfather was p good but not the monolith of G funk this was. "Gin and Juice" obv
42T.I.
King

Beats are huge and this guy is the most confident dude in the world on the mic. He's also made more memorable by his unique flow and voice. Lyrically he's superb too. Note to all sputnik rap listeners: you don't need to rhyme about anything definitive or substantial, as long as you rhyme cleverly. this guy does just that. or at least he did. "Top Back" and "Get It" are brilliant.
43A Tribe Called Quest
The Low End Theory

"Buggin' Out," "Scenario"
44UGK
Ridin' Dirty

Pinnacle of southern rap. RIP Pimp C. "One Day" is one of the best rap songs ever.
