You can't even sign up for an account. It's honestly just a place to read reviews. Plus, it doesn't have as many reviews as Sputnik does. I honestly visit both.

I read the review of Gospel's The Moon Is a Dead World that denounced an entire genre with the statement, "lets face it, prog is lame" or something along that line. Lets face it-that is pretty unprofessional. But, a list announcing your leaving when you are not well known, as am I, is pretty pointless besides getting spammed by folks.

It's an embarrassment to music journalism and if I were in charge of that site it never would have been posted. It's not a great album but that was a lambasteing and not objective in any way.

It was no joke music journalism at it's lowest imo and really made me a little sick to my stomach. It is what ultimately made me decide that Sput was the place for me and I have yet to be proved wrong. But if it is not for you then Que Sera Sera sir. If that is where you think you will be happiest so be it. Your list title just kind of set me off a bit. if Sputnik isn't the place for you that means nothing to me but Pitchfork has absolutely become a den of iniquity as far as I'm concerned.

bab808 03.04.11	you can hate on pitchfork all you want for having a few shitty reviews, but the reason they're so popular is that they do have plenty of good writers and overall good taste. sure they might have a few lousy reviews (like the magnetic zeroes review) that really makes them look bad, but as a whole, they do justice to music journalism in that each of their writers has a unique voice. if you look at a lot of the reviews on other sites they all say the same things about the same bands. pitchfork has a lot of personality and it's refreshing. the reason this site is so attractive as well is that it has a community. so why not just leave pitchfork alone and be content that we have sputnik to talk to one another.

Although there's one major gripe that I have with Pitchfork, and it's the fact that they have removed certain positive reviews of bands they don't deem hip anymore. Anyway, Sputnik is a little too obsessed with hardcore related genres for me, but I still find people I can agree with. SloppyMilkshake 03.06.11	As far as reviews go, they're definitely not as professional. That being said, they're a bit more laid back. I use Rateyourmusic as more of a database though, since it's a lot more accurate and complete than Sputnik's, though I still come here for the reviews. And yeah, Sputnik has their own elitist mentality of sorts, but you'll find that on nearly any music website. The thing with Pitchfork is just how badly they shove opinions down the userbase's throats. I just hate how they hype bands/trash on bands. Makes independent music seem very pretentious. And with their reviews, they often spend a lot more time on band history/ethics than the actual albums. You'll find some of that here, but I think the more professional reviewers here do a good job of being holistic.
