| This List Contains No Radiohead
digzzzzzzzzzzz | 1 | | Radiohead The King Of Limbs
OK I lied, this list contains trace amounts of Radiohead. The album rules by
the way, although I've still got my fingers crossed that they're adding some
tracks. | 2 | | Protest The Hero Scurrilous
PTH have always been one of my favourite bands, but I still understand
some of the hate they get; I can see why someone wouldn't like them.
With the announcement of the new album, I was under the impression that
this was when they would finally become "lolbad" but instead their
songwriting is maturing and the studio wizardry is damn impressive (for a
PTH album) | 3 | | Glassjaw Coloring Book
These fist three digs have me feeling like such a sputnik sheep right now
but I mean fuck. I wanted to listen to this and be all "3/5, you guys are
crazy" buy my God this album (EP, whatever) slays for days. DAYS | 4 | | NAS Illmatic
Whose world is this? | 5 | | Pariah [UK] Safehouses
Getting more into some dubstep. | 6 | | Love American Love American
Meet Love American: a "sputnik" band that isn't a huge pile of shit. | 7 | | Cold War Kids Mine Is Yours
I've been on a dl'ing spree, attempting to familiarize myself with some of
the names at Sasquatch 2011 that I've not heard. This album is great, not
flooring but good; a nice listen. I mean, it's only a 3.5, but there's another
reason it's here. Whenever I hear Vampire Weekend, I can't help but be
instantly transported back to Sasquatch 2010 in my head. "Contra" is just
so summery, it went so well with Sasquatch. Well, this album, to me,
sounds like Sasquatch too, even though I haven't seen them there yet. I
can already picture all the sexy hipster chicks groovin to these tunes,
wacked out on MDMA. Fuck man, I can't wait. | 8 | | A Tribe Called Quest The Low End Theory
It took me waaaaay to long to finally check this out | 9 | | The Tallest Man On Earth The Wild Hunt
I couldn't stand this guy when I first heard him. Now, The Wild Hunt has a
place on my Top 10 albums of 2010. It's amazing how full of a sound he
can get with just his voice and an acoustic guitar. | 10 | | Defeater Dear Father
I refuse to listen to the leak of the new album until my vinyl arrives. Ahhh
this is painful, why am I doing this to myself? At least the Protest The Hero
album leaked too, and I don't care about waiting for the actual release for
that one, although I'll probably pick up the CD so I can pump that shit in the
car and fuck with all the rednecks in my town. | 11 | | Sunny Day Real Estate Diary
My newest 5. One of the great influential emo records of the 90s. | 12 | | Pg. 99 Document #8
One of the great influential hardcore emo records of the 00s | 13 | | Mobb Deep The Infamous
Such nice beats | 14 | | iTAL tEK Cyclical
More dub. Jash just got this on vinyl and we had a listen last night. Good
stuff, really chill. | 15 | | The Weakerthans Live At Burton Cummings Theatre
These guys make me proud to be a Canadian. I see Jim Bryson + The
Weakerthan Band soon. It's no The Weakerthans show, but it's the next
best thing I guess. Man, they really need to tour outside Manitoba, they
haven't played a show out West in ages. | 16 | | Robyn Body Talk
Pretty shallow electro pop, but fun to listen to. | 17 | | Ratatat LP4
I still need to check out "Classics" but I thought this was a really good album. | 18 | | Foo Figthers The Colour And The Shape
I can't wait to see these guys live at Sasquatch. Oh man that show is
going to be NUTS | 19 | | Godspeed You! Black Emperor Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada
After seeing them close with BBF3, I've decided that it is now my favourite
song of all time. Just too brilliant for words. Sorry, Shine On You Crazy
Diamond | 20 | | Godspeed You! Black Emperor Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas...
So, for as long as I can remember, for every "favourite albums" list I've ever
made, Wish You Were Here was always number 1 and I thought it always
would be. Well, this just bumped it down. Sorry Pink Floyd, but this album
is honestly perfect. I'll make a list later for the official changing of the guard
though, don't worry. | |
