SloppyMilkshake
02.07.11 | List is incomplete without "There There", nuff said. Lyrically and musically it's one of their greatest songs. |
Nagrarok
02.07.11 | Let Down, No Surprises, Karma Police & High and Dry would definitely be in my list. |
couldwinarabbit
02.07.11 | ^ that and fitter happier. |

02.07.11 | @sloppy |
InFiction
02.07.11 | List could do with 'Videotape'. |
SloppyMilkshake
02.07.11 | Yeah, "There There" is just so perfect. That guitar tone...my God. Best Can influenced song ever written.
Oh, "Knives Out" should be higher too. I think it's honestly my most listened to song on my iTunes. |
SloppyMilkshake
02.07.11 | Oh, and "Big Boots" (aka, "Man-O-War") deserves recognition. |
DocSportello
02.07.11 | Let Down? |
aok
02.08.11 | (completely forgot about Packt Like Sardines so I added that to the list and rearranged slightly, along with Knives Out and Let Down)
Knives Out and Let Down -- uhh, yea, today I feel differently...
There There I don't understand -- I named 7 tracks on Hail To the Thief that I like significantly better. I just listened to it for the 40th+ time and still don't see anything special in it. Similar with Videotape, Karma Police, No Surprises
Fitter Happier is brilliant and perhaps their most brilliant, but as a standalone song? -- not really... If it was on the list it would have to be top 10 probly top 5 and then that shifts everything else down.
@Sloppy never even heard "Big Boots" (aka "Man-O-War") and was hoping for some favorite b-sides to come up. Just listened and it's great => when was it released? |
SloppyMilkshake
02.08.11 | "Big Boots" was never released, which is sorta sucky. If you heard it, it was a live version, or, somebody took different bits and pieces of the song (the few studio fragments that exist, live recordings, etc) and put them, together. It's from OK Computer era, and I doubt it'll ever be released. There's a video of the band trying to record it on "Meeting People is Easy" and you can see the band get frustrated and basically give up on that song for good. |
qwe3
02.08.11 | radiohead has so many good songs it's impossible to narrow them down to 40 of the best |
JamieCTA
02.08.11 | let down is far too low imo |
aok
02.08.11 | @qwe3 --> so true!
let down is a great track but radiohead actually has this many better tracks. same can be said about videotape and where i end and you begin. karma police and no surprises are two very very good tracks, but they would probly just inch their way into the top 50. if you don't know some of these or don't know them well, listen more |
climactic
02.08.11 | let down is too low for me
so is jigsaw and morning bell and packt
always thought EIIRP was overrated |
twlight
02.08.11 | oh look what i started....hahaha |
JulianAssange
02.08.11 | radiohead stop this madness and give us something new to listen to |
Slum
02.08.11 | Needs more Wolf at the Door |
aok
02.08.11 | @climactic -- respect for packt and morning bell (esp kid a's), but eiirp is pure genius. in the context of an answer to ok computer but even standalone, you get home it's just after sundown and thom yorke's voice eerily creeps and matches sounds that twist you in 8 directions at once. but that's just me...
@humanatee -- yea, but i already have the rest of kid a on here so i have to draw a line somewhere |
aok
02.09.11 | @Slum -- big fan of 'Abbey Road' so I can't handle 'Wolf at the Door' quite at face. It sounds so much like 'Because' and 'She's So Heavy'
Would like to hear others' lists / opinions though |
luschlotz
03.10.11 | Like your list, agree with you on "No Surprises" and "Let Down", I personally would put There There, I am a big fan of "Hail To The Thief" which I believe is harshly underrated. Like Your number 1, its mine too!! |
Pyosisified
03.10.11 | so basically your honorable mentions and overrated songs are better than the whole list |
aok
03.10.11 | go listen to kid a and amnesiac again. if you actually think Where I End and You Begin, Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, No Surprises, Karma Police, High and Dry, Sail to the Moon are their best stuff you are sorely sorely mistaken |
Pyosisified
03.10.11 | lol kid a is terrible |
aok
03.10.11 | a. i'm sorry for you
b. why are you commenting on a radiohead top 40 list if you think radiohead's best album is terrible? You really need some hobbies or something |
astrel
03.10.11 | I suppose I am the only person who loves the track Electioneering. |
aok
03.11.11 | for most bands a track like electioneering would probly be one of the 5 best. but this is radiohead so ... personally i like it better than there there but the masses have made me realize i might be wrong |
Pyosisified
03.11.11 | electioneering is better than all the songs from kid a combined
"b. why are you commenting on a radiohead top 40 list if you think radiohead's best album is terrible? You really need some hobbies or something"
yes i need to have the same opinion as the whole sputnik userbase right |
Remer17
03.11.11 | Where's Creep? ;-) |
Remer17
03.11.11 | Of course you do Pyosisified. Haven't you learned that yet? |
NigelH
03.11.11 | List needs more from The Bends. Especially Just and My Iron Lung. Beastly top 10 though. |
aok
03.11.11 | while you're entitled to give convincing arguments like 'no surprises is awesome cause i think those albums everyone else but me loves suck,' i just don't understand why you would.
i can't stand at the drive-in's 'relationship of command' but i'm not gonna jump into an argument without acknowledging that there must be something special in that album |
aok
03.11.11 | @nigel -- just and my iron lung are just outside the list but aside from that (+ the ones on here) no other track on there is even close to their best stuff imo |
luschlotz
03.12.11 | I am intrigued by your list, agree with on Kid A, and not in other things, everybody is different, no electioneering please!!! I dont like it at all |
Brontosaurus
03.16.11 | i love wolf at the door "flan in the face" |
DoofusWainwright
09.19.17 | Gets half of the top 10 correct but overall a strange ranking here |
