"annoying" Vocals/music That I Enjoy

Vocally and musically I would agree that all of these are one some level annoying. But at least each band and their respective vocalist(s) have an IDENTITY that creates a distinction between them and the rest of the genre. They may not be perfect (I could easily see why people consider these shit) but they are interesting and somewhat enjoyable....at least to me haha.
5The Devil Wears Prada

This is possibly a weaker argument than my other bands, but I really like
Plagues. I don't really anything else by them, but I still like Plagues. I hate Mike
Hranica's screams in all of the other albums -Dear Love seems too sloppy for me
(lol yes I know I'm being very hypocritical, but a lot of this is personal taste) and
in With Roots Above he literally has 2 screams (shitty gutterals and monotone
mid-ranges). But Plagues he sounds pretty good with enough vocal variety to
make him stand out from other bands of the genre. Idk maybe it's because
Plagues is one of the first scene albums of the genre (if I heard it now for the
first time after hearing all the same sounding scene bands I'd probably hate it),
or perhaps its some high school nostalgia, but I think Plagues is pretty good
(lyrics excluded). Despite it's many flaws, it's catchy yet varied enough for my
liking as are the rest of the bands. Sorry if there are stupid typos, this format is
kind of tricky, but comments are welcome, just try to be too much of an asshole
even if you completely disagree. I wholeheartedly expect many to disagree lol.
4Anthony Green

Not exactly the same as the others on the list, but I felt like including him.
Plenty of people deem his vocals as screechy, whiney, and way too high pitched.
I feel like this is more a subject of personal taste than the other list-members
because he sings more..um.."normally" than the others. But I enjoy his voice -
his soft croons and his screeches- and I personally believe he's becoming one of
the best lyricists in modern music. I also enjoy his melodies and the variety of
his melodies -some being instantly catchy and others more methodical, sticking
in your head at random times. He is better with Circa than alone, but
nonetheless has an identity. Whether it comes from his music or the hype is
also an opinion, but I'm an optimist so I'll go with the music (I really like Circa
before I knew who Anthony Green was anyway).
3I Set My Friends On Fire

Easily one of the most hated bands (becoming more and more irrelevant), their
one and only album is one that I actually enjoy. I would rather listen to ISMFOF
than bands like abandon all ships, attackattack, miss may i, asking alexandria,
etc. etc. etc. because they actually bring something different to the table
whereas most scene music can be digested thrown up in one listen. Lol most
people probably hate all of these bands, but I'm a semi-fand of the genre so I
guess that's why I'm giving my opinion. What gets me about ISMFOF is that
certain passages are funny, catchy, scary, unique, and actually REALLY GOOD,
all at once. Idk that may be way too much opinion, but many parts like the
outro of WTFWJD, the chorus of Things That Rhyme with Orange, and the
entirety of ASL and Reese's Pieces I think are very enjoyable and interesting,
the obvious motif for this list. Cons? They obviously are what everybody hates
about the genre (layered/autotuned vocals, breakdowns out of nowhere, stupid
song titles, gimmicky), but they take each element to the extreme. To me, this
makes fun scene bands, but glorifies it at the same time. Idk I consider them to
be creative...well at least I did until Nabil left.
2System of a Down

Probably less controversial, System of down and Serj can seem annoying to
many people. But regardless, they are loved my even more. It's the way he
parallels a weird/harsh/grisly passage with a beautiful/catchy/smooth melody
that gives the band an identity and uniqueness. He has real VARIETY in terms
of experimenting with plenty of styles of vocal delivery, not many sounding
exactly the same as opposed to LOW SCREAM, HIGH SCREAM, AUTO-TUNED
SCREAMS that soooo many bands today think constitute variety. BTW most of
the opinions I have for one band on this list can be said for all of the others.
1Dance Gavin Dance

Jon Mess. You love him or you hate him, either way rightfully so. His "screams"
sound at times like a constipated Joan Rivers. But I love DGD anyway, and isn't
the same without him (Happiness was really good, but missing a certain edge
that DGD was first known for). It's weird because Jonny and Kurt (who I enjoy
both equally) are so much more talented than Mess, but the album I like the
least is the only one Mess isn't in. His lyrics range from somewhat intuitive to
completely and unnecessarily vulgar retarted, but always remain interesting
nonetheless. He fits perfectly in the band and neither him nor the band are
better off without him in it, which can't be said with many, many vocalists.
