Baph's 2010 Part I: The Try-Harder-Next-Time-Around Albums
I'll be on vacation in two weeks so I figured, what the hell I have listened to more than renough. More than 100 albums from 2010 rhave felt the warm embrace of my ears and here rI present to you rthe very best of those albums: My top 50 divided in a three-part list. Today rI rpresent to you the first part; very good, enjoyable albums rthat just don't have what it rtakes rto make them that memorable, rbut still are great listens that you shouldn't miss. rWithout further rado I give to you albums 50-31.
Say the band's name 20 times in a row. I dare you.
Now that you're done, this indie rock album will prove even more amusing
than that tongue-twister.
Great hardcore. That is all.
Reasons to listen to this: 1. It's free. 2. It's pretty damm good. 3.
McNuggets does have a sexy voice and it's ok admiting it if you're ok with
Monument To Time End
In the fight of giving some respect back to the noun "twilight", the black
metal supergroup are making a fine job.
Darkness, Oh Hell
Anyone who ditches the punk genre and then releases something this good
is ok in my book.
I might get a lot of hate for this, but as good as this may be it's nowhere as
impressing as its predecessor.
|14||Tides of Man|
If it is catchy post-hardcore/prog rock you want, these guys can hook you up.
Amazing voice, but the songwriting can drag a bit.
These guys show an interesting progressive side of their DM in Exoplanet.
This album touches me... inappropriately. I love indie electropop, plus I'm of
spanish descent so I'm used to the balearic sounds. This is a killer album for
chilling and for the beach.
Right of Way (Deluxe Edition)
Your party is not complete without this. Period.
|9||Make do And Mend|
End Measured Mile
Catchy and fun, but can get old rather quick.
Cold and Distant, Not Loving
A great year for hardcore this has been, hasn't it?
Small Lights in the Dark
For those of you who don't know, I have a thing for female fronted pop.
And while some of the songs can cross the depresive line too often, SLITD
is anything but depressing. It's one of those albums that when, not heard,
but listened to can help you put things into perspective.
|6||The Tallest Man on Earth|
The Wild Hunt
Getting over the annoying voice of the singer will reward you with one of
the best folk albums of 2010.
Black Swan (In 8 Movements)
Ambient that will make you fucking paranoid.
|4||As I Lay Dying|
The Powerless Rise
The album title might remind you of erectile disfuncion, but make no mistake:
TPR won't let you down when things get hot and heavy. Nowhere near
"generic" metalcore and with thrash elements sprinkled above it, this might
be the band's most agressive release.
Sumerian Black Metal. Yes, it might get a tad gimmicky and it doesn't have
the "shock and awe" element that made Sphynx so good, but Melechesh
can do no wrong.
To me, a step in the wrong direction from the band that gave us one of the
best albums of 2008. But if you can get over the deathcore part, it's still a
Catchy, well-executed melodeath. The thing about this album is that while it
doesn't impress that much nor is anything quite special; it's still one of
those albums you can sink your teeth in any time and it won't sound boring.
It might get a tad generic, though.
Expect next part somewhere around thursday. Some other interesting albums that won't make the lists:
Kaskade - Dynasty
The National - High Violet (yeah, yeah... cry me a river)
Sigh - Scenes from Hell
Sleigh Bells - Treats
Tera Melos - Patagonian Rats
Titus Andronicus - The Monitor
War of Ages - Eternal
Wolf Parade - Expo 86
Devil Sold his Soul - Blessed & Cursed
Chiodos - Illuminaudio
The Birthday Massacre - Pins and Needles
Barren Earth - Curse of the Red River
Part I: The
Thanks for pointing that out. I guess quotation marks don't work too well in list titles.
Agree with you on 15
"The album title might remind you of erectile disfunction"
I think I liked Black Breath and Kerouac a little more than you, and I still need to hear a few of these, but good list Fap (yeah I'm gonna keep that one alive as long as I can)
hmmm interesting. will wait to see the other lists before i judge. but 4 really sucks. hard.
1 was so boring, but I agree with the others that I've heard from this list.
I expect to see Marina in the next part...
The only album Ive heard here is Tallest Man, and its pretty awesome
I'm okay with everything in this list except for Halcyon Digest
I expect to see Marina on the last part tbh.
@Veigh: Yeah, they didn't do as much for me as they did for others but still impressive releases. Keep the fap thingy, I like to believe it's our special bond.
@Mordecai.: HOW DARE YOU JUDGE ME! YOU DON'T KNOW ME, YOU DON... ah, ok. I'll save that for part III.
@bloc: You agree with me. I shut up and enjoy the moment.
@Buccaneer: Haha, you know me well good sir.
@forever: yeah, most people will probably say that.
@freek: You know me even better.
"Titus Andronicus - The Monitor"
Interesting! Haven't heard most of these. From what I've heard I like 16 a lot. 14 is kind of mediocre to be frank.
to be greg
to be tom
how the fuck are people finding out what my name is?
5 sounds like my kind of thing. Is it similar to lustmord?
6 DOES NOT HAVE AN ANNOYING VOICE
Now, now Brandon. Take your medicine, it'll all be allright.
If 6 is here it means I enjoy it. But Fran Drecher would think Matsson's voice is annyoing.
Oh and I don't know Lustmord but if you like dark ambient 5 is definitely for you.
Mordecai., lol i clicked your last.fm link and you have it listed there
Hehehe. I don't need meds! >:O
But I love dark ambient, so I'm on it.
Keep seeing 5 everywhere, getting now.
5 is so goood.
it's too damn short though
Wow you got it fast.
Yeah I encourage to find and get ASAP.
6 is hilarious, but so true. I love that album
