Regardless, the Zune is just as nice looking and only slightly thicker than an Ipod touch. And plus, the ITouches only go up to 64gb which may not be enough for you if you have a lot of music as you said. |

11.24.10 | I've had my Zune for about a year now and I love it. Before that, I had an iPod for a couple years.
Zune Media Player kinda blows. Randomly forgets where my files are, freezes sometimes, syncs things I didn't tell it to sync... But the actual unit is great. People who say "OMG IT'S HYOOG" are kind of dumb, it's really only slightly larger than an iPod. Anyway, it's never frozen or anything. Doesn't have an EQ though, and that blows.
My iPod was a curse from hell. I swear, the very day I got it, it wouldn't work properly. I couldn't sync any of my files until I had converted them to AAC(which took forever), it froze and restarted all the time, and iTunes... Oh lord iTunes. With all my hate for Zune Media Player, I'd prefer it any day over iTunes. Tried to convert files when I didn't want it to, froze CONSTANTLY, etc.
Just my experiences, someone else's may be the complete opposite |

i HATED my zune. it was always messing up. i was glad it got stolen. the classic is the best ive had, for the longest time. really durable and simple and actually holds what i need it too |

11.24.10 | I'd get a zune. The software looks a lot nicer and isn't as annoying as itunes. And their sound quality is better than ipods, and they can read more types of audio files that I've come across. Plus they last way longer than any ipod. My zune outlasted my cousins' ipods by 2 years. |

After the first time you show the Zune software where your music is (and will go), it takes NO clicks to add files to your library.
That being said...what MusicIsMyFavorite said. I used to check out 80GB iPods from the Texas Tech library and keep them for days at a time with my music on there before I finally got an 80 GB Zune as a present. I like iTunes a little more than the Zune Software, but I like the Zune MP3 player MUCH more than iPods (talking 80/160 GB, here, not the touch versions). UI is beautiful, navigation is easy, and it has a built-in FM tuner. Also, I personally find the Zune pad to be less frustrating than iPod's circle (the Zune pad only has an up and down and left to right touch capabilities, and dedicated play and back buttons that are separate). It is a bit quieter than the iPod, though, and if you want to hook it up to, say, a car radio, the radio needs to have an Aux input jack--music can't be read through the USB/charge cable like on an iPod.
Just my thoughts. Go with the Zune. DO IT. |

My choice would be an iPod. I've never had a problem with either of them and my first one has been dropped countless times and even has a huge scratch across the screen but still works perfectly fine. |

11.24.10 | I've had an ipod classic 120gb which was awesome but died after only 16 months of having it (hard drive packed up) Got an iphone 4 now and its awesome to use but only got 32gb of memory which is fine if you don't have more music than that, but i've got 92gb in my itunes and alot of the time i'll think of something i want to listen to and i havn't got it on my phone so then have to plug it into my laptop and mess around taking some stuff off and putting other stuff on. Havn't ever used a zune and tbh i aint ever seen one anywhere don't know what they sell like in the states but don't see any in the UK unless you go on amazon tbh |

They're reliable, artsy, and I find a lot easier to handle than iPods. That clickwheel thing is fucking ridiculous. Zunes have touchpad/directional pad capabilities, so you can choose which one you want to use. It's really easy to sync files of all types. I plan on getting an HD when larger storage capacities come out. And they have apps now too, if that's what you like about iPods. |

11.24.10 | I personally love my Zune HD. The audio output is noticeably better than the iPod, and while the lack of highly-customizable EQ is a drag, that won't matter much with a good set of cans. (After all, audiophiles tell me EQ's are for compensating for the shortcomings of your headphones)
Also, the all-you-can-eat music subscription is awesome if you have a huge appetite. It's $15/mo for everything you can download, as well as 10 mp3s/mo to keep permanently. Expect some artists to be absent from the marketplace, but I've been able to find a lot of obscure music. |
