The first seven are bands that have their own massive fan bases, but I don't understand why. The last three are bands that I completely adore and wonder why anybody would hate them. I need explanations. I need answers. Why do some of you guys like these terrible bands, and why do some of you guys hate these awesome bands?
:generic riff: BARF BARF BARF :generic riff: BARF BARF
Ugh, these Metalcore half-wits are capable of nothing more than total crap. Nothing they write is even average, and anything good the band might've achieved is always ruined by the horrendous vocalist singing his over-dramatic, cluttered lyrics. A ruinous band at best.
|2|| ||Escape The Fate|
|3|| ||Fall Out Boy|
Hey, check it out - we didn't even TRY to create anything worthwile, but got a big single!
Let's not reinvent the wheel, let's go steal the wheels off of those other bands' cars and drive our cash cab on them! Unoriginal Pop-Punk that rely entirely on catch and lame-ass lyrics and neglect important concepts such as artistry should not get popular, but Fall Out Boy did.
|4|| ||Panic! At The Disco|
Fake, fake, fake, fake, fake
HAY GUYS LET'S SOUND LIKE FALL OUT BOY, MAYBE THEY'LL SIGN US TO THEIR LABEL. Also, let's have obnoxious song titles that have nothing to do with our BS lyrics!
BLAMSPLOSION ARRGHH RRAAHHHRR WHAM WHAM WHAM
Rawr, over-complicated instrument playing and super-fast drumming! Unfortunately, as overwhelmingly talented as the players are, everything combines to create a chaotic, nonsensical mess of ear-bleeding distortion and incomprehensible screaming.
|6|| ||The Arctic Monkeys|
Overrated as all HELL
What is the big deal with this band? They're trendy, not original - it's COOL to sound like 80's Post Punk with extra dance-ness and trite lyrics.
|7|| ||Insane Clown Posse|
I know that there are fans of this band SOMEWHERE. Would one of them step forward and tell me why they feel ICP is NOT the worst band of all time? Because I'm pretty convinced that they are.
Fantastic British Alternative that refuses to stay the same
Honestly, I think that Radiohead are a brilliant band. They find a way to successfully reinvent themselves with almost every release, and their music is expertly textured and fitting for Thom's voice and meaningful lyrics. How can you hate on one of the most genius bands of the last twenty years?
|9|| ||Sigur Ros|
Beautiful, languid, elegant Post-Rock
Tell me what is not to enjoy about whimsical atmosphere and the touching coos and cries of Jonsi's voice.
Energetic, dramatic British Alternative with incredible musicianship and flair
While not everything they do is exactly perfect, what don't some of you like about really cool riffage, neat lyricism, and this damn powerful trio's rock n' roll attitude?
|8 and 9 can be really unrelentingly boring at times.|
I still can't see why you would hate Converge other than the fact you hate anything that isn't mellow. Considering who your favorite 3 artists are it seems, its not a surprise though.
|I'm really into Radiohead right now and I'm looking to buy some stuff by them. Sigur Ros are a band that I really need to get into and I don't like Muse. |
|I enjoy Muse, but the can get litle boring at times. I agree on Coverge, but disagree on Escape the Fate.|
|Those aren't my three favorite artists EVER (save for Radiohead). And I do very much enjoy energetic, loud music - for instance, At The Drive-In, Deerhoof - but Converge just seem to be trying too damn hard and barely ever considering restraint as an option. No-holds-barred distortion and screaming just doesn't do it for me when there is no over-riding melodic sensibility, sense of direction, clarity or true focus.|
|I definitely agree with you on Converge. Well actually I agree with you on all of these except Muse. I haven't listened much of them but what I have heard doesn't interest me.|
|I agree with Blindguy^. Your right on the money except for Muse. Theyre just ok. Not great.|
|1 is just catchy, and the fanbase is full of 13-14 yr. old 'goth' girls.|
2 and 3 are the shiz.
|Anything done by Radiohead was done by Pink Floyd in the 70s. And Pink Floyd wasn't all that good to begin with.|
|100% agreed on ICP. |
FOB and P!ATD are catchy, And the latter certainly has a somewhat original sound. (IMO)
|good list. i applaud you.|
|Hahahahah I like this list, though I like a little bit of Converge every now and then. I don't find them to be as groundbreaking as most do though. |
|Arctic Monkeys are awesome because they make catchy music and their debut is really solid.|
|Sigur Ros is really boring though.|
|i used to like 2 but they started to get boring. 3 and 4 suck soooo much. i like converge every now and then but only in small spurts, their drummer is nuts though. i just got into 6 and theyre pretty good. radiohead and muse are awesome but i cant get into 9|
|John Paul Harrison|
|To be fair I don't think anybody has really tried to pass The Arctic Monkeys off as original. |
|Sigur Ros is beautiful|
|Good list man. I totally agree with you on 8, 9, 10 they are such great bands|
|well, i can explain why someone could hate the singer of sigur ros. maybe cause he doesn't even speak a real language. at least converge's lyrics make sense (if you read them). and i don't believe that ATDI makes up for the fact that you don't really like heavy music. still pretty mellow, for being aggressive. face it dude, you don't like metal.|
|Opeth, Kamelot, Nightwish, DragonForce and Metallica aren't "Metal" now? Guess I'll have to go castrate myself.|
|agree with everything except for Converge.their kind of music shud be like dat.whatever u'll say|
|ICP are highly original and creative.|
|I like Atreyu :P But I do not like Souicide Notes and Butterfly kisses or The Curse (agree about generic riffs and barfing), I only like A Deathgrip on Yesterday (the screaming actually sounds good here and the songs are all awesome) and Lead Sails Paper Anchor (not even metalcore, very catchy 80s rock with a modern approach).|
