Underoath - what I like and dislike.

Because I figure I've been into this band way too long.

Act Of Depression

If this wasn't so sloppy. If the lyrics weren't so flat out bad and preachy. If the GODDAMN SNARE DIDN'T SOUND LIKE A TIN CAN. If these songs weren't so drawn out.
If if if if, this album would be their best.

Cries Of The Past

The vocals on this album are insane. Some of the riffs are just amazing, unfortunately most of the riffs are cheesy and generic, the keys are too high in the mix and way too simple/cheesy, and Aaron's drumming is kind of sloppy at some parts. You can tell that this sound wasn't right for them at all.

Lost In The Sound Of Separation

Okay, the idea behind this album is awesome. Everything sounds massive like on DTGL, but moreso than Disambiguation, everything's so drawn out.
Aaron's vocals sound a lot better than on DTGL, but at a lot of points they're just like, "why are they throwing these parts in on here?" and the forced feeling of those parts detracts from the album as a whole more than the... monotony?
It's great, but they could've done better with this.

Disambiguation

I'm surprised with how good this one is. I really like the raw, cathartic sound to it, and Spencer's vocals are a lot less monotonous than on LISTOS.
Unfortunately they drag out songs a bit and Spencer's cleans don't sound as good as they could (if you ever saw them live right around when he joined you'd understand).

They're Only Chasing Safety

This album is like where they lost their fanbase and picked up their new fanbase. I love it though, the vocal lines are so catchy, and THOSE HIGHS, just damn yo.
Unfortunately you can tell this album was more of a trend hop from a band trying to find their sound.

Define The Great Line

The production on this album is beautiful. The guitars sound immense, and Spencer's vocals sound the best they ever did here, sucks he fucked up his voice recording it.
Aaron's cleans sound out of place the most on this album, and you can tell a lot of the poppier post-hardcore parts were fan service, but those factors don't really detract from it in all honesty.

The Changing Of Times

Everything, not really, but this album is real nostalgic for me. The atmosphere!!! Dallas' vocals are incredible, Aaron's cleans were actually like, natural sounding and he didn't push too much, and his drumming was out of hand.
Unfortunately some of Chris' key parts are just like... dude, really? And Angel Below is a mad cheesy song.
