10 Albums That Changed My Life
This is the 10 albums that have had the most impact on my musical life.
First CD I ever bought when I was like 5. I didn't listen to it all the way, but I was obsessed with Help! and Ticket to Ride. (Come on, I was 5 freaking years old lol)
Houses of the Holy
Okay, now this is the album that really got me into music. To be honest, I will have to say this is the album that changed me the most. Prior to this, I had never experienced a whole album from front to back. I already owned I-IV, but I skipped songs that didn't catch my interest in the intro. This was the first album I ever listened to all the way from front to back, and it changed my outlook of music and life forever.
This one was a more subtle change. It just showed me that long songs are sometimes far from boring and dragged out.
|4||Coheed and Cambria|
In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
This is the album that introduced me to modern music. I use to hate music past the 90's because lets face it, the mainstream of this decade sucked. Then, my brother introduced me to Blood Red Summer, and the first thought was "this sounds like freaking Rush!" Although IKSoSE3 was the 3rd album I listened to, it hit me the hardest. Looking back, it's not even their best, but it impacted me the most.
|5||At the Drive-In|
Relationship of Command
Introduced me to Post-Hardcore and sound effects. What more can I say?
They're Only Chasing Safety
Okay, now this album changed me in a bad way. I had some friends who loved Underoath and sceneish stuff like Escape the Fate, A Day to Remember, TDWP etc. This is the album that introduced me into my "sceneish" phase. I was new to that type of music because honestly, RoC was the only Post-Hardcore album I had ever listened to. So I thought it was original and cool at the time.
The Illusion of Safety
Yes! The album that got me out of that phase. I heard this, and realized how many freaking bands ripped this off.
This album showed me how to pay attention to every detail to an album. This changed the way I listen to music. I started to appreciate softer music as well because of this.
No other album to this day has ever brought out as many emotions as this, and those emotions never die with each listen. It also opened me up to chaotic music.
The Shape of Punk to Come
This album just shocked me in general. It increased my interest in older Hardcore and Metalcore.
Chronological order. You can post yours as well. One honorable mention.
11. Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
btw ily guys
9 an 10. rest is blah
The Poison changed me for the worse while its ok i was listening to my friends to much at the time instead of listening to what i thought was good which lead me into some pretty shit stuff like Avenged Sevenfold, Aiden and Escape The Fate
Except 4 totally is their best album.
Good albums to change your life to.
Most of us have a bad phase in music.
4 isn't their best imo, but I worshiped it at one point. lol
I don't get the emotion thingy about Jane Doe... I mean I love it and all, but to me it's a brutal album to be enjoyed as such, to get emotional I relate more to black or doom metal, as well as indie.
Well I mean it isn't the only album to bring out my emotions obviously. I had a relationship where I was screwed over and that usually brings instant relations with this album.
by the way, did any of the older members on here ever remember talking to this member?
I found my old profile hahaha, I was 13.
great list. "Colors" by BTBAM is prolly the most influential album to me as it opened the doors to prog for me and really made my get serious about guitar
4,5,7,8,9,10 all great albums.
So much win on this list
9 and 10 are 5's. Awesome albums in this list.
converge and refused are better than the beatles
^probably the dumbest thing I've ever seen written on the internet
I'll just say that I like Converge and Refused more than The Beatles.
Yes. I loveeee Sgt. Pepper, but that's way better than anything else I've heard from the Beatles, imo. The Beatles are great nonethless and that's not even mentioning the influence and importance, which everyone is aware of.
It's funny 6 had the same exact effect on me.
I definitely agree with 3
i made a list like this a while ago. featured stuff which is far lamer than anything here.
pretty sure 8 did that for everyone
Take out 4, 5, 6 and 7 and you're good.
Nice list. 4,5,7,9,10 would be in my alltime top25 for sure. 6 is good too.
Wow. Great list.
4 is pretty high on my list. 2, 3, 5, 6, 9 are awesome too
yeah really cool list. I don't think I can remember exactly how any of my favorite albums changed my life. Animals is really the most important one I can think of though
6 is a good band. There newest album is amazing and there newer one is going to be better. But i hate there old stuff like you listed
"4 is pretty high on my list. 2, 3, 5, 6, 9 are awesome too"
6 is awesome, but 7 isn't?
