Big Hans' 25 Hip Hop Favorites

So, I was kind of a hip hop fiend in the 90's, then basicaly stopped listening for about 10 years. Now I'm back listening heavily, and this is a list of my favorite albums, both old and new. This is not meant to convey the "25 greatest hip hop albums ever," although many of these would qualify.

Objectively speaking, its probably better than Me Against the World overall, and I consider it to be the GOAT, it just doesn't hit me as hard, as often. This is pretty much fucking perfection though. Best Track: Warning

The Chronic

Its difficult to convey exactly how huge and influential this was unless you were of listening age when it came out, but this pretty much defines Hip Hop Classic. There really isn't a weak spot, except for the fact that Dre was a giant pussy in real life, not the tough guy he pretends to be on here. Best Track: Fuck Wit Dre Day

The rest of their catalog is pretty much hit and miss, but this is fucking elite. Haunting, intensely catchy, enthralling. Best Track: Mo Murda

I've been bumping this for 16 years now, and objectively I know its not a classic, I just fucking love it. It IS a classic party album however. Best Track: Tha Shiznit

The last Hip Hop album I purchased and love before going on a genre listening hiatus. This was fucking HUGE. Best Track: Marshall Mathers

It might be true the reason I swear so much is because of this album. I got my hands on this as a 5th grader. So Yeah. Deliciously filthy. Best Track: Fuck Shop

If you haven't heard this, you need to do it now. Its an absolute crime this wasn't bigger than it was. Every song exept for one is fucking Gold. Best Track: The Gangsta, The Killa, and the Dope Dealer

This would be a stone cold 5 if the second disc didn't exist, and top three material if they took the two good songs off disc 2 and replaced the two weaker ones on disc one. There is a ton of classic material here, it just gets bogged down by some filler. The great stuff is Gold. Best Track: Ambitionz As a Ridah
