|The Only Good Bands You Need To Know|
A list that will tell you what you've been missing out on in many
genres. Or perhaps you already know of these amazing bands!
|1||The Dillinger Escape Plan|
You'd be hard pressed to find better mathcore, hell, they invented mathcore!
Some of the best good old hard rock and roll I've ever heard. Prepare to
have your mind blown by kick ass guitars and drums! Also some great lyrics
Very very talented young musicians who make me want to listen to more
British indie music.
|4||Alien Ant Farm|
Just an old favorite of mine that is very easy to listen to. It also helps that
everyone in the band is a fantastic musician :)
Great post-hardcore band all around.
Very atmospheric feel which can be as abrasive as it can be soft. George
Pettit 's screamed vocals accompanies Dallas Green's beautiful vocals quite
|7||Texas In July|
One of the most promising Metalcore bands out there today. Best young
musicians i know of, period.
Such a great Folk/Indie band. Seeing them live seals the deal trust me!
Just really interesting. A guitar, synth, and vocals, thats all you need!
Thrash metal at its absolute best. They deserve to be known by all who can
appreciate thrash! Josh Middleton continues to amaze me with is ability on
the guitar. Heaviest shit you'll hear that is tuned to E besides Dillinger!
May just be better than The Dillinger Escape Plan when it comes to
Mathcore elements, they are certainly more diverse musically. Damn shame
that they are no longer together :(
|12||August Burns Red|
If you love metalcore you love August Burns Red by default.
Amazing Indie/Rock that will keep you listening for a looooong time! This
music has so much heart, it could make a grown man cry!
Many haters, but they put on an amazing live show. I also love their lyrics
and use of electronics. Get on the Enter Shikari bandwagon and you won't
want to get off. Coolest guys ever.
You can't go wrong with Anthony Green's Stellar voice. Another band that
i'd like to use the word "atmospheric" to describe. Circa Survive is the
epitome of unique.
|16||Closure In Moscow|
They are nothing less than brilliant. Another band that can put on a show
that will make you tear up with joy and utter amazement.
Their brand of Experimental rock only gets better as these dudes age. Their
latest "Diamond Eyes" blew my mind.
|18||Every Time I Die|
Hard rock/metal for the educated.
|19||Exotic Animal Petting Zoo|
Words can't begin to describe how sweet EAPZ's sound is. I want to call it
mathcore but it is so much more than that. They will make my top bands list
for the rest of my life.
|20||The Fall Of Troy|
Mathcore for those new to the genre (meant in the best way possible). I
love everything they've ever written. Thomas Erak is a brilliant guitar
player, Frank Ene is a brilliant bass player, and Andrew Forsman is a
brilliant drummer. So many memories are associated with this band.
Were as great of a post-hardcore(early material) band as they were a rock
band(later). Brandon Welch has some damn good pipes!
|22||Funeral For A Friend|
I can't say great riffs enough when talking about FFAF. If you really listen to them
and play them, they are fantastically written. Everything else about them is of
course great as well.
|23||He Is Legend|
I'd be real son of a bitch if i didn't include these hard hitters to the list!
Best alt rock EVER. Not enough good can be said about them.
Holy shat. Thats all that can be said when hearing a crushing Mastodon song.
|1, 5, 12, 16, 25 are awesome.|
And, believe me, we've ALL hear about these bands.
|no way is sikth better than DEP in terms of technicality. please...|
|By saying many genres I thought you'd span across MANY genres, not a couple of metal/hardcore/alternative subgenres. Too much mathcore and post hardcore. Anyways I like 1, 4, 12, 20, 25 are my favorites on this. Been meaning to check out 16.|
|"August Burns Red|
If you love metalcore you love August Burns Red by default"
|Ya damn right, Far-Less! |
I enjoy #'s 4, 5, 6, 12, 15, 17, 20, 21, 22, 23! and 24. Definitely not the only good bands to know, but good bands, nonetheless. Nice list!
and the bible is the only book we should be reading too, amirite?
|needz moar post rawk, punk, metul, shugaze, prog, indy, emo, folk, electronic, industrial, jazz, math rawk, pop punk etc......|
|Lotsa good stuff here|
|NEEDZ MOAR OPETH !!|
|Don't mind a few of these and definitely agree about Arctic Monkeys.|
|How anyone could consider Sylosis the definitive band for the thrash metal genre is beyond me.|
|4, 10, 12, 22 and 24|
|What about all the bad bands you need to know|
|I expected sth shitty cuz of the title but this was surprisingly good; props for 1 3 5 6 8 9 15 16 17 18 23 24 25 ;o|
|I like this list a lot. But only if you took out these 25 shitty bands and replaced then with 25 good ones. |
|some good shit on this list!|
|I'll admit, my title for this list was a little pretentious :) It was all in good fun of course! I'm glad that some of you agree with most of my choices (although while making it i realized i should probably increase it from 25 to 35). It is unfortunate how many people take things like a simple list very seriously and have to slam me for it. Oh Well! I respect other people and their musical taste (to an extent (unless it is a love for Nickleback)) so please respect me!|
