05.16.10 | i don't have anything against drinking itself, per se, but i have something against how heavily it is accepted to push drinking as some sort of socially accepted 'privilege' or how 'cool' it is to get hammered when it only potentially ruins things for people.
Also, how it's some achievement to be able to drink now, when most kids have been doing it since they were 15 or so anyway.
21 is just a 'guilt-free time', so it is dumb.
we all have our reasons, i just dont like it pushed in my face.
i could care less for a drinking age, or any restrictions on being able to do anything, as long as it doesnt force me to, or not to, do something.
i just want others give me the same idea in return. |

instead of entirely rejecting the concept of getting drunk, you could rebel against this idea MUCH more reasonably... how about drinking responsibly? Right now, you're saying- hey, only way to be responsible is to not drink at all... instead, set an example and show others that drinking responsibly is possible and practical.
just my 2 cents, the whole "proving excessive drinking is wrong by abstaining from it totally" doesn't really make sense to me, I'd much rather see people learn to drink alcahol in a managable, social, fun, responsible way rather than making it an issue of 'either you do it WAY to much' or you absolutely CANT do it at all. |

I get it. just that with the whole labeling of things 'str8edge' sets off my bullshit detector a little, as the whole movement seems a little wacky-- like in most cases when you join a movement, you want it to grow, you think you've found the right way and you urge others to follow you-- so I mae that assumption... but yeah, personal preference yada yada yada.

05.16.10 | I didn't drink my freshman year of college, stupidest decision ever. Tried to tell people it wasn't a big deal and all but the truth is it is. I found that in since I didn't drink people excluded me from shit or didn't want to keep in touch because I dont drink = not fun. So fuck it, I drink now, don't get hammered and drink responsibly and everything is fine. Choosing not to drink just makes you stand out and turns people off and limits your social potential. |
