04.08.10 | I'm about half-way through season 2. Season 1 was just epic, so far the the second one isn't quite as good, but I'm starting to like the dock guys more with each episode (minus that one little shit Zig or whatever). Sad to see D go though... |

04.08.10 | Sen. Clay Davis is also quite the SHEEEEEEEEEET.
Next month I'm moving into Treme, a neighborhood in New Orleans where David Simon just finished shooting the first series of his new show on HBO. |

04.08.10 | nice! I didn't know he was doing a new show |

04.08.10 | You should read David Simons book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets. It was the inspiration for the Wire |

04.08.10 | Yup. 80-minute pilot airs on Sunday. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I think people are going to hate on it because everyone is expecting it to be The Wire Pt 2: New Orleans-style, and that's just not going to happen.
None the less, its David Simon, so I'm sure it will be watchable at the very least. |

04.08.10 | I've heard about that book Porch, just haven't got around to it yet. I'll make it next on my list.
eggs: what's the show about? |
eggsvonsatan
04.08.10 | I'm not 100% sure, but I think its mostly about the struggle of musicians in new orleans post-katrina. I think its also going to touch up on a lot of social issues down here like crime, poverty, race relations, police corruption, school systems, etc, but I don't think its going to have as many characters as The Wire did. Simon gave a speech down here with some other writers of the show, but I missed it.
Funny story. Part of the pilot was shot in my friend's apartment. He lives above this French restaurant. My friend goes home one day to find Simon and his crew rearranging his furniture with a shit load of camera equipment. He asks Simon if they're going be be compensated, he says "Yeah, you guys are gonna get $50 each. The owner of the restaurant gave each of them a $10 gift card. No cash.
Bunk and Lester from The Wire are in it. |
Inveigh
04.08.10 | ^wow, what a dick move from the restaurant owner. They never got the $50?
Bunk and Lester are awesome, were they in your friend's apartment? haha |
