Masochist's Best Albums Of 2009
Late, sure, but here it is: the best albums released in 2009, according to me. Note that the list is in REVERSE ORDER.
No More Stories
Another recent get. Need to pay more attention to this, as 'Frengers' is so damn awesome.
Aim and Ignite
ALL THE PRETTY GIRLS ON A SATURDAY NIGHT.
Recent dig. "Panic Switch" has been stuck in my head for a little while now.
...In Shallow Seas We Sail
It's All Crazy! It's All False! It's All A Dream! It's Alright...
Black Clouds And Silver Linings
So happy that Mae released new stuff again! I think I'll grow to like '(a)fternoon' a bit more, but this one's more familiar to me.
The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion
My least favorite Dredg album. Probably says more about Dredg than the album, though, considering I still really like it ;-).
Not good to listen to while in a car, but excellent when sitting in a dark room by yourself.
|8||Anchor & Braille|
I probably wouldn't've even heard of this band if it wasn't for Waior's review of it. Glad I did, though, because this is excellent.
Mean Everything To Nothing
Am I the only one who enjoyed this a lot? I LOVE listening to this while driving; screaming "SET IT ON FIRE!" at the top of my lungs is very satisfying, for some reason....
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... Pt II
The best hip-hop album released in half a decade, let alone this year.
|2||He Is Legend|
It Hates You
I started out not knowing what to think about it (and my review reflects that), but in the end, I can't decide between this and 'I Am Hollywood' as my favorite He Is Legend album (and note that 'I Am Hollywood' is in my top ten favorite albums of all time).
I don't have a reason for this being number one except that it had a bigger impact on me than any other album released this year (except for maybe Raekwon's). This made me a Brand New fan.
Right...nearly two months late, but here it is. I know you guys have just been dying in suspense, waiting impatiently to see which album I'd dub the year's best. I know it.
Anyways...I see Silversun Pickups in Dallas in March (along with Muse), and I see Mae (along with Cage The Elephant) at a free concert in April right at my school.
Also...note the reverse order.
And go ahead and give your opinions on what should and shouldn't be on here, and your order for 2009 albums (as if you need an invitation to do any of that...).
where's addicted?!?!? other then that you have my top 5. i personally liked the pariah better then CWA but neither come close to el cielo
Keep listening to 17 and it will just CLIMB.
Hahaha...perhaps I should start listening to Devin Townsend ;-)
Actually, there are a few albums missing. Karnivool's 'Sound Awake', As Tall As Lion's 'You Can't Take It With You', Rishloo's 'Feathergun', Chevelle's 'Sci-Fi Crimes'...lots of things I probably should've listened to (and even had plans to do so), but just didn't.
like the list like it more because no mpp but like it a lot.
and oh ya.......... i STILL need to check out 5
Hahaha...don't worry, Brick, I still need to write my review of it (which I said I would be the first to do) ;-)...
needs more phoenix
needs more phoenix is right.
needs more phoenix wright: ace attorney
Thank you for putting "It Hates You" some where near number one. It's one of this year's most under rated albums
I Like 16.. 15 I was surprised ddnt think ppl still liked emery
Burning Apollo - Good God, yes it is! I wanted to put it at number one, but 'Daisy' changed my music tastes more than 'It Hates You' did.
Twizzie - Yup, '...In Shallow Seas...' was a very nice surprise from the band.
Oh...and I just wasn't interested in checking out 'Wolfgang Amadeus'. Sorry, folks ;-)
