Masochist's Best Albums Of 2009

Late, sure, but here it is: the best albums released in 2009, according to me. Note that the list is in REVERSE ORDER.
20Mos Def
The Ecstatic
19Mew
No More Stories

Another recent get. Need to pay more attention to this, as 'Frengers' is so damn awesome.
18fun.
Aim and Ignite

ALL THE PRETTY GIRLS ON A SATURDAY NIGHT.
17Silversun Pickups
Swoon

Recent dig. "Panic Switch" has been stuck in my head for a little while now.
16Rx Bandits
Mandala
15Emery
...In Shallow Seas We Sail
14 mewithoutYou
It's All Crazy! It's All False! It's All A Dream! It's Alright...
13Dream Theater
Black Clouds And Silver Linings
12Mae
(m)orning [EP]

So happy that Mae released new stuff again! I think I'll grow to like '(a)fternoon' a bit more, but this one's more familiar to me.
11Dredg
The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion

My least favorite Dredg album. Probably says more about Dredg than the album, though, considering I still really like it ;-).
10Porcupine Tree
The Incident

Not good to listen to while in a car, but excellent when sitting in a dark room by yourself.
9Japandroids
Post-Nothing
8Anchor & Braille
Felt

I probably wouldn't've even heard of this band if it wasn't for Waior's review of it. Glad I did, though, because this is excellent.
7Thrice
Beggars
6Manchester Orchestra
Mean Everything To Nothing
5Mute Math
Armistice

Am I the only one who enjoyed this a lot? I LOVE listening to this while driving; screaming "SET IT ON FIRE!" at the top of my lungs is very satisfying, for some reason....
4John Frusciante
The Empyrean
3Raekwon
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... Pt II

The best hip-hop album released in half a decade, let alone this year.
2He Is Legend
It Hates You

I started out not knowing what to think about it (and my review reflects that), but in the end, I can't decide between this and 'I Am Hollywood' as my favorite He Is Legend album (and note that 'I Am Hollywood' is in my top ten favorite albums of all time).
1Brand New
Daisy

I don't have a reason for this being number one except that it had a bigger impact on me than any other album released this year (except for maybe Raekwon's). This made me a Brand New fan.
