Battle Of The Bands [Quarter-Final 1]

Here are the rules again: - Each round there will be three bands - The band who receives the most votes (via comments) moves on to the next round. - Each round lasts 24 hours. - Only one vote each round per member. - There were preliminary rounds, these are quarter-finals, and next are the semi-finals, and finally the finals - In the event of a tie, a faceoff will occur between the disputed albums. - The final two will be an EPIC SHOWDOWN! So, let's get started: NOTE: The 'average sputnik rating' I get by adding all of the bands album ratings together and averaging them out.
1Rx Bandits

ROUND 1 WINNER -- Latest album: Mandala / Average Sputnik rating: 3.86 / Based in Seal Beach, California, this band has mixed ska, punk, reggae, progressive rock and bits and pieces of everything else to form their sound. They started out amidst other California ska-influenced bands such as Reel Big Fish and No Doubt. Their first two releases: 'Those Damn Bandits' and 'Halfway Between Here and There' were heavily third wave ska-influenced. After being signed to Drive-Thru Records, they released a more serious album entitled 'Progress.' This was the first step of the band's evolution.
2Circle Takes The Square

ROUND 2 WINNER -- Latest album: As The Roots Undo / Average Sputnik rating: 4 / Circle Takes The Square was formed in Savannah, Georgia in early 2000. Soon after the forming, the band wrote songs for a demo CD for touring and soon after recorded for a split 7" with the mighty Pg.99. Following the release of the 7", co-founder Collin Kelly left the band and was replaced by Bobby Scandiffio in late 2004. In the early summer of 2003, the band recorded their debut full-length entitled 'As The Roots Undo', which received widespread critical acclaim.
3Godspeed You! Black Emperor

ROUND 3 WINNER -- Latest album: Tiny Silver Hammers (EP) / Average Sputnik rating: 3.91 / Often praised as one of the greatest Post-Rock bands, Godspeed You! Black Emperor formed in Montreal, 1994. The band began with three members, but usually has nine, and has contained as many as 15. The group's unique and volatile sound is a mix of classical, avant-garde, and progressive, with most of their songs broken up into symphonic movements. Godspeed's music is all instrumental, save eerie spoken samples sometimes incorporated to enhance the dark mood, most noticeably on the album "f#a#?". The band is opposed to self-publicizing, with a lot of the members being anarchists, and most of their fan base is made by word-of-mouth. Godspeed You! Black Emperor went on an indefinite hiatus in 2003, and show no signs of reforming soon.
