01.05.10 | as far as Bob Dylan goes, I'd say get Blood On The Tracks; it's the first album I've heard of his that I've really been able to get into. otherwise:
Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
Gavin Castleton - Home (if you want something more poppy)
Joanna Newsom - Ys
Jonni Mitchell - Blue
and of course 2nd Bright Eyes and Elliot Smith |
Athom

01.12.10 | Hmm, Titan50 is right, 'Grace' by Jeff Buckley is fantastic. Also agree with 'Blood on the Tracks' by Bob Dylan as well as 'Highway 61 Revisited'.
More Leonard Cohen is a must:
Songs of Leonard Cohen
Songs of Love and Hate
New Skin for the Old Ceremony
Various Positions
Check out 'Alice' by Tom Waits, it's not like his Island years, so if all you've heard is Rain Dogs it'll be another side of his sound. I'd encourage you to delve deeper into Cohen and Waits, they are my two favourite artists.
Also the Raine Maida solo was great, may take a couple of listens to get into however. |
