09 Digs
Nearly at the end of 2009 and there's still about 80 albums for me to check out so the definitive 'best of' list will appear late-jan/early-feb.
This is a list of my recent faves from this year |
1 | | Rome Flowers From Exile
4.0 - Neofolk from Luxembourg. Absolutely amazing album, and among the best of the year. Sure to be on my best-of list |
2 | | Fall of Efrafa Inle
4.0 - Sludge Metal/Post-Rock/Doom Metal from UK. The production is pretty poor but this is really solid. Some of the best post-rock passages and smile-cracking sludge... |
3 | | Riger Streyf
3.5 - Viking Metal/Black Metal from Germany. At last, some terrific viking metal which this year has been lacking. I'm one of two to have rated this, so get on board... |
4 | | Lost Soul Immerse in Infinity
3.5 - Death Metal from Poland. This country > yours. Also, losing the war means these guys make very nasty death metal which rules, go poland, you da best.... |
5 | | Do Make Say Think Other Truths
3.5 - Post-Rock from Canada. Believe the hype this is very professionally executed post-rock which has no boring moments. |
6 | | The xx xx
3.5 - Dream Pop/Indie Pop/Electronic from UK. Pitchfork is good... |
7 | | Caspian Tertia
3.5 - Post-Rock from USA. This has an average of 3.5 but it should be higher than that..I know I rated it exactly 3.5 but my ratings are always on average .5-1 star lower than most other people, so listen to this album and rate it highly, because it's awesome... |
8 | | Mumakil Behold the Failure
3.5 - Deathgrind from Switzerland. |
9 | | Mount Eerie Wind's Poem
3.5 - Singer/Songwriter/Contemporary Folk/Lo-fi from USA. |
10 | | Portugal. The Man The Satanic Satanist
3.5 - Indie Rock from USA. |
11 | | Sacrifice The Ones I Condemn
3.5 - Thrash Metal from Canada. |
12 | | Powerwolf Bible of the Beast
3.5 - Power Metal from Germany. This is pretty heavy as far as PM goes. Very good release and I am (suprisingly) the only one to have rated it so far... |
13 | | And So I Watch You From Afar And So I Watch You From Afar
3.5 - Post-Rock from UK. |
14 | | Rodrigo y Gabriela 11:11
3.5 - Flamenco/Acoustic Rock/Latin from Mexico. This album is grossly overrated but it is very solid and worth a few good listens. |
