10.09.09 | Saetia is a must when it come to the emo/scremo history. You can also go into the Japanese and French bands that have laid their stones in the genere (Sed Non Satiata for instance).
Also listen to Kidcrash - Jokes is an amazing album |
Skimaskcheck
10.09.09 | 6 is definately not.

10.09.09 | You're on the right track, at least you didn't put stuff up there like Paramore or Fall Out Boy.
You'll definitely want to add some Fugazi on here. Fugazi isn't actually Emo per se, but it was there original sound that, in time, evolved into the emo genre.
You might mention something about older Boysetsfire, or older Emery. They were more in line with the genre back then then they are now. |
chrisonsputnik
10.09.09 | i was goin to mention Fugazi but i jst assumed cos they were Post-Hardcore there would b no need to mention them here. |
accompliceofmydeath
10.09.09 | This is pretty important: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolution_Summer
You might want to put in there how emo evolved from hardcore. |
CaptainMorgan13
10.09.09 | I just thought you guys should know that I really hate CTTS. Not good screamo at all in my opinion. |

Prophet178
10.09.09 | Why would you do a paper on a genre you don't know much about lol. I would probably divide it by region, us emo scene, french, Japanese, etc, they all have a distict sytle and following.
|
kitsch
10.09.09 | cool i get name dropped as an authority on emo.
i would say that NONE of these are emo, save for maybe sunny day real estate, and they are arguably so.

10.09.09 | kitsch knows where it's at.
Also I'd give a heads up to the european screamo scene, since they have their own kind of sound.
Bands like:
Sed Non Satiata
Mihai Edrisch
Daitro
Suis La Lune
Raein
Le Pré Oú Je Suis Mort
La Quiete
etc. etc. |
kitsch
10.09.09 | addendum:

slightlyepic, the euro skramz scene is cool, idk how it would fit in the history though.
but if you do mention the euro scene, amanda woodward is one of the first and really influential |
kitsch
10.09.09 | there are always a lot of posts on emo lists until i post then no one bothers anymore |
SlightlyEpic
10.09.09 | Well that just might be because you have it pretty damn well covered there. And I don't know, he could just fit euro-skramz in with.. well.. between post-rock screamo and modern screamo I guess. And yeah Amanda Woodward are sweet, I should've mentioned them. |
kitsch
10.09.09 | yeah that prob the best place for them in both continuity and style.
yo, add me on facebook or something bro.

10.09.09 | try for the screamo is dead too.
its less consistantly good than the emo, but i think that might just be the difference in the genres.
still, about 90% of all that shit on both rules. |
kitsch
10.10.09 | chances are that whoever youre writing this for doesnt know anything about it so you could get away with just doing some research on fourfa even though its pretty inaccurate sometimes esp with the newer bands |
