Lions 10.02.09	I'm going to second the dredg, pax cecilia, cynic, king crimson, and jethro tull recs. Also, some of the bands you listed have better albums. I'd suggest In Keeping Secrets from 8, In Absentia from 9, and Frances the Mute from 10. Otherwise, here's some more things I'd think you'd like: Yes - Close To The Edge maudlin of the Well - Bath The Dear Hunter - Act II Kayo Dot - Choirs Of The Eye Gospel - The Moon Is A Dead World Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here Opeth - Blackwater Park (if you prefer softer stuff, go with Damnation from them) Mr. Bungle - California Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - Of Natural History... The Sound Of Animals Fighting - The Ocean And The Sun Magma - s/t Rx Bandits - And The Battle Begun... Alright, that should give you a pretty broad overview of a ton of different sounds, both new and old. God, I love prog.
greg84 10.02.09	OK. I'll check some of these. I've already heard Mr. Bungle, Rx Bandits, dredg, Cynic and Opeth. I don't agree with you on 8, 9, 10. These are my very personalized choices. Frankly, I can't get into anything before The Bedlam in Goliath as for The Mars Volta. And I agree In Keeping Secret... is a very good record, but not my fave from Coheed.

greg84 11.21.09	Mainstream bands? Hmm. What bands do you call mainstream? I have difficulty distinguishing. I try to devide music on good and bad and I'll admit I like catchy tunes. The thing is that my taste is not very mainstream for this site. You probably haven't heard a lot of albums I've rated on this site. Mainly because they're very obscure here. For example, look at my last 5 ratings.

greg84 11.22.09	I've no idea what's wrong with mainstream. Thanks for the recs. Have you heard the Polish prog band Indukti? I've recently purchased their last cd Idmen and it's awesome. They regularly use violin in their compositions. Plus, they tend to add trumpets and synths as well.

greg84 11.22.09	No. It has three other vocalists, one of them is Polish, but it's not Duda. Quite ironically though, the best tracks on it are instrumentals. Sansara, Indukted and Ninth Wave rank among the best songs of the year for me. Besides, the album is much heavier than S.U.S.A.R.

greg84 11.22.09	Jethro42: Not only classic prog rock is underrated here. Stoner rock and non-mainstream hard rock as well. AnotherBrick: Yeah. I've heard these bands, but not the whole cds, just some tracks on the radio (I live in Poland). Out of Polish bands, you should check out Rootwater and their last cd Visionism. They play groove metal and have a totally amazing vocalist who by the way gives the best vocal performance on Idmen.
