C-a-p-s Caps Caps Caps!

Tonight ladies and gentlemen is a reason to rejoice: the official start of the 2009-10 NHL season! I proper WOOT is in order. As my avatar will show, I am a huge Washington Capitals fan and have been since before I can remember. Anyway, here are some recent digs and my top five favorite teams. Who are you guys rooting for this year?
1Brand New
Deja Entendu

Washington Capitals - hometown favorite. Plus now that they actually have this thing called winning seasons and playoff games they are a lot more exciting to watch. Oh yeah, a guy who wears number 8 doesn't hurt either :D cannot wait to go to their home opener Saturday.
2Taylor Swift
Fearless

Colorado Avalanche - being as I was a huge Capitals fan from a young age, I latched onto a west coast team who actually won and played hockey in the months of April and May. The 1996 Stanley Cup Finals were filled with awesome hockey - who remembers the rats and the rat traps being thrown on the ice? Joe Sakic was basically my favorite hockey player; his snap shot is disgustingly good and I've tried to model mine after him. I will still cheer for them even though he is retired and they will most likely end up third worst in the league.
3Thrice
Beggars

San Jose Sharks - another west coast favorite, my step mom lives about 15 minutes from where they play and overall they are just a fun team to watch. Plus I'll have to pull for them this year since Thorton is on my fantasy team. Hopefully they make it out of the first round of the playoffs this year.
4Foo Fighters
The Colour And The Shape

Montreal Canadians - I was actually fortunate enough to go to this lovely province and watch a Capitals Canadians game live this past January. The Forum is honestly the craziest hockey environment I have ever witnessed in my life. Just the tradition this team has as well as the passionate fans makes them a worthy pick for me to root for since they aren't a division rival for in the Atlantic Division. Plus French Canadians are pretty cool people.
5Mayday Parade
Anywhere But Here

Anaheim Ducks - it was tough to pick them over the Blackhawks as I'd like to see them both do well this year. Reason for picking Anaheim is plain and simple: when everyone counts them out they perform. As last season showed, these guys come ready in the playoffs even when they are heavy underdogs and always find a way to persevere. Also have Getzlaf on my fantasy so that helps things too. Happy hockey season!
