Recent Album Listens

Albums that i've listened to recently in my attempt to listen to all the albums that i've missed out on in the decade. It's mainly so that I can do a best of the decade list at the end of the year, but also because it's fun. Here are the last 5 that i've listened to:
1Broken Social Scene
You Forgot It In People

Hmm... it's just okay. Not spectacular by any means, and while there are a couple really fantastic songs here (Almost Crimes, Looks Just Like The Sun) overall i'm dissapointed. I think the band lets their art-rock influences show through to much; you can tell that they're trying to be pop but it just doesn't work too well. It's too busy, and too long. May grow on me, but for now it's just okay.
2Radiohead
Kid A

Where has this album been all my life? Seriously, what the heck? This is so amazing. Beautifully atmospheric, works fantastically in sequence (especially with the art booklet), and manages to be experimental while still keeping grounded. I like how none of the songs go too long, and even it's more experimental pieces have something of a hook to them. Also, Optimistic and How To Disappear Completely are two of the best songs this decade.
3 Modest Mouse
The Moon and Antarctica

Wonderful album. It's fantastic in sequence, and has a lot of variety while still being cohesive. I think that there's some kind of concept going on here, though i'm not sure. Still, great album.
4Queens Of The Stone Age
Era Vulgaris

I don't see why people hate on this album. It's probably the bands most consistent release, and has lots of great tracks (Turnin' On The Screw, Make It Wit Chu, Suture Up Your Future). It's up there with my favourites from the band.
5Red Hot Chili Peppers
Stadium Arcadium

Too many songs here. Could've been an excellent 10 track album, but as it is it's not great. Not bad, but not great.
