| Beck's 10 Albums Ranked
Being the Beck fanatic that I am, I feel like I want to represent my personal opinions on his work. Plus, as the old Sputnik saying goes, I'm bored. Everyone's entitled to a first list, right? | 1 | | Beck Odelay!
Probably my favorite album of all time, Beck basically outdoes everyone with a recording that puts the entire world of music in a blender and serves it up with an unrelenting amount of creativity and pure awesomeness. | 2 | | Beck Mellow Gold
At first, Mellow Gold might seem like a collection half full of gems and half full of nightmarish experimental failures. But once you get past all the initial wtf-iness and allow yourself to be immersed in the music, those same songs will scream with greatness. | 3 | | Beck Mutations
Most of Mutations consists of a Beck who sounds defeated while singing beautiful graveyard lullaby's and western-saloon piano tunes. Seriously. But after the first few listens, the music and lyrics hit hard, and the album becomes a sublime essential. | 4 | | Beck Midnite Vultures
In which Beck embraces his inner Prince and funks the roof right off. Despite one or two tracks near the end being a little weak or unfitting (I'm talkin' to you, Beautiful Way), Midnite Vultures is a huge success. | 5 | | Beck Sea Change
And then he does this. A melancholic collection of acoustic guitar songs if there ever was one, Sea Change shows that Beck has the talent to make yet another left turn work. Now, he's no Sufjan, but most of Sea Change is direct, emotional and undeniably great. | 6 | | Beck Guero
Some people felt that Guero was simply the sound of Beck trying to revisit the impeccable Odelay and failing hard. Now, I'll agree that it can get a little re-hashy here and there, but Guero is mostly just Beck doing what he does best: making great music. There isn't much wrong with that. | 7 | | Beck Stereopathetic Soulmanure
Did you even know this was an album? Yup, Beck's not-too-popular first release is pretty much Mellow Gold except 5 times more unhinged. Hey, I think it's great. | 8 | | Beck The Information
Beck's wacky, signature spin on pop music is fine for an album, but The Information lacks in that none of it really amazes. Sure, it doesn't necessarily get boring, and it's a worthy purchase for any fan, but some tracks are just unnecessary and the others don't get much better than great. At least the make-your-own-album-cover thing is a lot of fun. | 9 | | Beck Modern Guilt
After a few months of waiting, Modern Guilt felt like a disappointment. It has loads of potential, but it is too same-sounding and waaay too short. In retrospect, I'd have rather spent my money on something else. | 10 | | Beck One Foot in the Grave
Beck's passable folk prequel to Odelay is oft-overlooked for good reason.
Boring album is Boring. | |

02.14.09 | on my list, 5 would be much much higher. 8 slightly higher. and 2 and 3 a little lower. but, on the other hand, you seem to know a lot bout Beck and compiled a pretty good list. | FattyKnee

02.14.09 | Thanks, SeaAnemone.
I think Sea Change is incredible but it wore off of me a tiny bit and I just think that Mutations and Midnite Vultures are slightly better. | Cvrst_Drums
