08.22.17 | well, its an original ranking at least. ive only heard The Morning Never Came and Ghosts of Loss, but Morning was miles ahead of Ghosts imo. | Xenorazr
08.22.17 | @king: I want to be more active, but life just keeps butting its ugly head up, which has left me little time for hearing new music and even less for reviews. I do hope to review the new Anubis Gate album when it releases.
@Hawks: Most will probably say it's the only album you need to hear by them. I'd disagree, but I'm not exactly a poster child for popular opinions.
@Adolf: I can only speak for how the albums made me feel. While I do appreciate Morning (hence why I'd give it a 4/5), appreciation can only take an album so far. Songs and Ghosts deliver more material that I enjoy than Morning and they deliver it more consistently, and that's ultimately why I rank them above it. | DungeonBoy
08.22.17 | A very unexpected ranking.
The Morning Never Came is easily my favorite STS album. IMO they haven't written anything since that captures that same dark atmosphere. Every song on that album is amazing. Ghosts of Loss has two of my favorite STS songs (the Giant and Fragile) but as a whole it is a very underwhelming album compared to their best albums. Hope is easily my second favorite album after TMNC. It was their best effort in adding a little more experimentation into the funeral doom inspired melodic death metal sound, without compromising what they achieved on TMNC.
my ranking would be 3, 6, (5 or 1 or 2), 4 |
