Also I'm not committing to checking all of these out now but will use the recs as a guide in my ongoing exploration of the genre.

These are great albums, but Catherine Wheel's first two are necessities. Also, you stated "The Big Three"...what are the big three to you? MBV, Slowdive and...??? I ask because I want to recommend Ride, which I assume is the third band, but is not on the list nor in the comments. 'Nowhere' is the album to start with, but the song "Leave Them All Behind" is one of the best songs in the entire genre. I only have one additional album for you: Starflyer 59's 'Silver'. Early 90's underground shoegaze on the dirtier side of My Bloody Valentine.
TheSpaceMan 08.09.17	The December Sound - The Silver Album is possibly my favorite album ever. If you like the style of loveless, you'll probably dig it if you give it a chance. The Verve - EP is good for the softer side of things. I second lilys and curve.
theBoneyKing 08.09.17	Masochist, yeah Ride was what I meant by the third of the big three. They're definitely high on my priority list. Lots of albums here I'd already heard about which is good, this will def help me narrow my focus a bit.

McMegaMountain 08.09.17	I'm one of the few who classify Deerhunter's "Microcastle" as a modern shoegaze masterpiece. I can't listen to it without hearing shoegaze. The second disc "Weird Era. Cont" is probably more in vein with traditional gaze but on "Microcastle" it's all over tracks like "Twilight at Carbon Lake," "Never Stops," "and the title track.
theBoneyKing 08.09.17	Nice stuff SpaceMan, I've seen a lot of good things about that Bowery Electric album, shoegaze x trip hop sounds like an awesome fusion. McMega I'll have to relisten to Microcastle and pay attention for the shoegaze bits. Never listened to the Weird Era Cont disc though.
zakalwe 08.09.17	There's some great recs here, boo radleys are always overlooked so nice one fx. One of my all time fave albums Painful by Yo La Tengo is essential. Hows about The Reegs Spacemen 3 Black Swan Lane This Mortal Coil The Telescopes The Sundays (more poppy but there's some navel gazing going on) Clint Boon Experience - Life in Transistion (there was a thing back in the day known as baggy indie. Northern UK, Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and one of the most underrated bands of all time Inspiral Carpets. This is the solo album by the keyboardist and although not shoegaze per se it's well worth a spin, it doesn't give a fuck) Cocteau Twins
