| moi favorite films
hey there hows it goin, tell me some of yours too fucko | 10 | | Autechre Chiastic Slide
Good Will Hunting (1997)
A pretty darn beautiful mentor-disciple film in the form of the amazing Robbin Williams and babyfaced Matt Damon. Nothing much else to say other than fantastic performances and heart-wrenching scenes of emotional beauty. | 9 | | Kendrick Lamar good kid, m.A.A.d city
Django Unchained (2012)
Close choice for Tarantino's 2nd best, just beating Inglourious Basterds. An action-fueled ride of epic Wild-West proportions, and Jamie Foxx's starmaker. Some riveting suspense coupled with incredible shooter scenes makes this another Tarantino classic | 8 | | Deftones White Pony
Memento (2000)
Another Nolan masterstroke, I'd be lying if I said I finally completely understood this film. But that's what makes it so fuckin' good. The greatest clusterfuck ever put to tape, and the only movie I've ever had to watch twice to better grasp it, and still not be able to do so. | 7 | | Ride Nowhere
Goodfellas (1990)
No, not The Godfather, this is the greatest organized crime film ever put to tape. Stunning performances all around, but Joe Pesci's portrayal of Tommy DeVito is the clear standout. Scorcese's most important film, with his directing at its apex, and some of the most riveting scenes of all time in this movie. Easy classic. | 6 | | Chevelle La Gárgola
Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014)
One of the decade's best films, Innaritu's masterpiece has all the ingredients of a classic; exceptional acting, exceptional cinematography and direction, and Norton and Keaton throwing hands. Probably the best portrayal of NYC's vibes alongside Taxi Driver, and a beautiful final 20 minutes. | 5 | | Deerhunter Halcyon Digest
Inception (2010)
By this time, you've probably guessed Nolan's my favorite director. And here he is, a few years after The Dark Knight, with one of the most innovative sci-fi films of all time. Great acting all around, and a near-perfect ending. Nothing I'd change about the film. | 4 | | Tool 10,000 Days
The Prestige (2006)
Another masterclass by Nolan, but also one of his most divisive. Bale and Jackman are both phenomenal rivals, and the twist in the end is easily the greatest ever (yes, more than The Usual Suspects and Primal Fear). | 3 | | Nas Illmatic
Pulp Fiction (1994)
Quite possibly the coolest movie ever put to tape, endlessly quotable and hilariously good. Tarantino's undisputed classic. "That" dance, the entirety of the golden watch, and the last 15 minutes... jesus. | 2 | | Nine Inch Nails The Slip
The Dark Knight (2008)
Gah, real predictable choice, but I can't help it. the first movie to ever grab me completely by the balls, absolute A-1 thriller. I remember thinking halfway through the film that it was the best one I've ever seen, and THEN the ferry scene came. It's batman vs joker, directed by Nolan, so... obviously a fuckin' masterpiece | 1 | | Radiohead In Rainbows: From the Basement
No Country for Old Men (2008)
A story about the bad guy winning, how often do you see that? Perfect mix of black comedy and thriller, this is truly the Coen bros' masterpiece. Javier Bardem's portrayal of Anton Chigurh's probably my favorite performance before the camera ever. | |

07.31.17 | This list is kinda okay as far as American mainstream films go. | Flashmobba

07.31.17 | *yall gotta hmu with some of your favourites too yknow | Papa Universe
07.31.17 | I don't know why, but it always seemed to me that Django Unchained is Tarantino's least Tarantino-like film. Most likely, because he finally got the budget and the means to create something grandiose and epic and he spent the living fuck out of it. It's not as focused on the snappy back and forth dialogue, but rather a plot that is ruthlessly maniacal. He seems to have abandoned the quiet charm of his previous films for the sake of pure ambition (something that was also heavily present in Inglorious Bastards). And in the end we have a movie that, while still being a fantastic piece of cinema, does not feel like a Tarantino's world as much as his previous films.
But what do I know, maybe this is what he was always about and the reason his previous work is so different is because he didn't have the resources yet. | guitarded_chuck
07.31.17 | meh there was lots of dialogue between foxx and waltz's characters, leo's scenes all had lots of dialogue, the climax scene with everybody dying felt very reservoir dogs | Papa Universe
07.31.17 | Of course there was dialogue, duh, but it wasn't that good old back and forth snarky, snappy, witty banter, it turned into just conversations with occasionally some mildly humorous undertones. Sure, the writing was still great, but it was as if from a completely different spectrum. | JeetJeet
07.31.17 | @Unique I get what you're saying. I always thought part of the reason why Django was so good was because of how Tarentino dialed it back. Its still got the classic Tarentino violence and gore, but he toned himself down. | Papa Universe
07.31.17 | Jeet: That's exactly what I mean. The movie is still great, but Tarantino clearly wanted to go into a tad different direction with it as compared to his previous work. | Valkoor952
07.31.17 | 6, 8 and 9 could probably make it in my top 10.
Have never been that massive on The Dark Knight .
Pulp Fiction could also be close.
Prestige is a great movie but I don't know about top 10 | Sinternet
07.31.17 | nolan is the most overrated director to ever exist but memento is ok i guess | porcupinetheater
07.31.17 | Where's Waterworld | Flashmobba
08.01.17 | interesting points bout django, but i just adored the writing and progression, that climax was fucking awesome. phone aint letting me rant on fuck sput |
