07.22.17 | Has anybody ever seen Muse live before? I know they're great live from their live CDs/DVDs and whatnot |
BigBlob
07.22.17 | unlucky m8 |
SteakByrnes
07.22.17 | Why is that my guy? |
Demon of the Fall
07.22.17 | I just hope they play stuff from the first 4 albums, Stockholm is indeed one of the best Muse songs... I wouldn't see them in an arena but should've seen them a long time ago. |
Spec
07.22.17 | my condolences dude |
SteakByrnes
07.22.17 | Yea I definitely would've liked to see them earlier in their career, but better late than never. At least they've been playing a good chunk of older songs lately, and we get Dig Down over with immediately |
Demon of the Fall
07.22.17 | Stockholm, Butterflies, New Born, Citized Erased, Space Dementia, Hysteria etc. This is 2 albums, haha |
robotmagician
07.22.17 | i'm sorry to hear you're going to the show, hopefully you can get out of it |
Divaman
07.22.17 | Me too. See you there. (And the rest of you bastards, don't try to rob my house while I'm there.) |
SteakByrnes
07.22.17 | Damn, didn't know there was such a hostility for Muse
Hopefully it's a good show Divaman, maybe we'll bump into each other haha |
Sinternet
07.22.17 | muse have sucked for a decade and origin is easily their best |
Satellite
07.22.17 | dollar store radiohead |
Divaman
07.22.17 | I'll be there. Hope it's a cool night like it was for Incubus on Wednesday. |
Demon of the Fall
07.22.17 | Sinternet is wrong, like usual. Absolution is more consistent. OoS has very high highs but more filler. |
sempiturtle
07.22.17 | They didn't play Map or Stockholm at my show, hope you get lucky though! |
SteakByrnes
07.22.17 | The only album of theirs that I haven't really liked is 2nd Law tbh
And yea I hope I'm lucky sempiturtle, they've been playing both recently so I hope they keep that trend going |
sempiturtle
07.22.17 | Yeah I got stuck with like, 6 songs from Drones, plus 2 or 3 each from The Resistance and 2nd Law... RIP. |
BlazinBlitzer
07.23.17 | Stockholm's my favorite song, but I'd have to relisten to OoS and Absolution to see which album is better. |
NordicMindset
07.23.17 | you're from Long Island? I know people going there right now |
BlazinBlitzer
07.23.17 | @sempi That's an awful setlist. |
Judio!
07.23.17 | Saw them during their 2nd Law tour. Their setlist was meh, but the show was badass |
SteakByrnes
07.23.17 | That show was absolutely fantastic, they played a good variety of songs from each album minus Showbiz. They played Stockholm Syndrome like I wanted them to, with the Reapers intro and outdo accompanying it, and it sounded awesome. Time Is Running Out, Hysteria, Plug In Baby, and a couple other really sweet jams. PVRIS was really good too, I'm glad I was able to see the babe Lynn rock out, and Jared Leto the band did a good job too |
SteakByrnes
07.23.17 | And nah I'm not from Long Island, I'm like 3 and a half hours away |
Divaman
07.23.17 | Rained like a sonofabitch at various points during the night, but otherwise, great show. My wife is really more of a Muse fan than I am -- I was on the fence about getting tickets, but I like PVRIS, so that convinced me. But all 3 bands were vg last night, and big crowd, especially compared to the Incubus show earlier this week. I waved, SteakByrnes -- did you see me? |
AsleepInTheBack
07.23.17 | They were pretty fun when I saw them live |
Mesm277
07.23.17 | Seen Muse twice and they were incredible tbh
PVRIS were good when I saw them last year too, enjoy |
SteakByrnes
07.23.17 | I might've seen you, I was wearing a black shirt with a rose on it if that sounds familiar at all haha. And it only really seemed to rain between sets, and for a bit when Muse was playing, but it wasn't downpouring at least |
Masochist
07.23.17 | Muse's albums have been pretty mediocre, but their shows are among the best you can go to. I've seen them twice, too, and the second time was on this very same tour. Their show is the type that makes you sing along even to songs you hate. "Dig Deep" was such an incredible opener, not because of the song itself, but because of the visuals (and how good they sounded live singing it). They played "Stockholm Syndrome" at my stop, but the played "The Resistance" instead of "Map of the Problematique." A highlight for me, though, was when they played "Bliss" (the only one from 'Origins'). The rest of the set list was pretty cool.
Thirty Seconds to Mars was great, as well--they had 50 random people from the crowd join them on stage for "Closer To The Edge," though I can't remember if they played anything other than "The Kill" from 'A Beautiful Lie'...maybe "Attack?" I dunno. "The Kill" was done acoustically with Jared singing from the lawn, though (Matt sang "Starlight" from the lawn, too...strange, because Muse isn't a band I'd peg for audience interaction).
I missed PVRIS when I went; got to my seat just in time for 30 Seconds. Oh well. Still one of the best shows I've ever been to. |
claygurnz
07.23.17 | One of the best live bands agreed |
SteakByrnes
07.23.17 | Yea Leto sang The Kill acoustically in the crowd at the show last night, and Matt was in the crowd singing Starlight. I would've rather heard The Kill as it is in the studio tho, not sure how I like the acoustic of it. Muse also played The Resistance at the show last night, which I didn't mind because I like that song quite a bit anyway haha |
sempiturtle
07.23.17 | Leto's been playing The Kill acoustic since at least 2014 now, cause he wants to avoid screaming wherever possible probably. I actually haven't heard a scream from him in a good 3-4 years. |
Divaman
07.23.17 | I'm not at all familiar with 30 Seconds to Mars, which usually makes it harder to get into a band. But I thought they were excellent, although I thought they started really strong, then dragged a little in the middle. Muse puts on a great show. I wish I liked them better, because if you were a big fan of the band, it was probably one of the best shows ever. But even as someone who's not really a fan, they were REALLY good. |
Masochist
07.23.17 | Given the choice, I would have preferred "Map of the Problematique," but I wasn't disappointed with "The Resistance," either. I would have definitely loved to see "Plug-In Baby" live, though. I think they played "Undisclosed Desires" instead, which I would have been more than happy to skip.
"I actually haven't heard a scream from him in a good 3-4 years."
He gave us a couple of great high notes during "Closer to The Edge" and "Kings And Queens," though no real screams. Probably best for him, and also for me if it means he'll be able to keep hitting those highs in future shows. |
sempiturtle
07.23.17 | They've been rotating Plug in Baby and Bliss, I believe. Undisclosed Desires gets rotated with Dead Inside. |
SteakByrnes
07.23.17 | He actually screamed that part in The Kill which is funny to hear in an acoustic song, and he did a few more here and there. I would've loved to hear Hyper Music tho, but I doubt they even play that in full anymore |
markharris
07.24.17 | I'm seeing them next week! One of my favorite bands. There is always a large handful of songs on each of their albums that always gets stuck in my head for an extended period of time. And their sound has inspired the sound of my own music! |
Demon of the Fall
07.25.17 | 'rotating Plug in Baby and Bliss'
Hang on, sometimes they don't even play Plug In Baby? That surprises me immensely, it's like their signature old school hit. How things change... |
sempiturtle
07.25.17 | Nah the signature old school hit at this point is Time Is Running Out. Even Knights of Cydonia and Starlight are getting into that territory these days. 80% of their US crowd probably hasn't even listened to Origin of Symmetry lol. |
Demon of the Fall
07.25.17 | This makes me sad. I bet their current set-list would have me running for cover then. It's cool they still play Stockholm Syndrome I guess. |
SteakByrnes
07.25.17 | Yea, plus they waste like 15 minutes playing The Globalist and Drones |
sempiturtle
07.25.17 | How about that New Kind of Kick shit? Are they still doing that? At my show they started off great then decided to play New Kind of Kick, Madness, Dead Inside, and Starlight all in a row which just killed the show. |
SteakByrnes
07.25.17 | Yea they are still on that New Kind of Kick, which Matt doesn't even stay on stage for, he just takes a break lmao |
Divaman
07.26.17 | If anyone is interested, I just wrote a full write-up on the show on my blog at longislandmusicguy.blogspot.com. |
SteakByrnes
07.26.17 | It's a very nice write-up, and I agree with just about everything said |
