Ghost: Ranked Honestly

You know how frustrating it is to have to write in "Ghost (SWE)" every time I want to look them up?
3Ghost (SWE)
Opus Eponymous

A good album no doubt, I couldn’t get too into this debut. The vocals sound like Weird Al doing his best to sing metal, and the instrumentation is superior far and wide, as the incredible instrumental “Genesis” proves. The satanic angle doesn’t quite work well enough here, and it comes off as unintentionally amusing more than once.
7/10
2Ghost (SWE)
Meliora

A ridiculously consistent album, Meliora blends every style of their previous works and condenses it into one unique sound throughout. The songs here aren’t as eclectic as on Infestissumam, but sound different enough for variety and similar enough to for a cohesive mood. If anything, this album proves that Ghost have a unique sound and the ability to make it work incredibly well.
8.5/10
1Ghost (SWE)
Infestissumam

While Meliora could be considered the better album, when I think of Ghost, I’ll always think of this album. From the proggy vibe of “Ghuleh,” to the satanic choir of “Year Zero,” and the circus-freak riff of “Secular Haze,” all of their most memorable moments are here on a varied, extremely listenable platter. Some weaker moments are easily made up for and covered up by the fantastic highs, making for my personal favorite in Ghost’s discography.
8.5/10
