03.26.17 | Oh fuck I forgot that one sec |
zakalwe
03.26.17 | Doesn't even mention their greatest film. List is completely wrong and shit. |
ArsMoriendi
03.26.17 | The Big Lebowksi is the best one and it isn't even on here.... :o
Hail, Caesar! sucked and you're underrating The Lady Killers hard imo |
butcherboy
03.26.17 | awesome list.. although i would move miller's crossing and barton fink before fargo.. and put burn after reading a bit higher.. amazing idea though |
AngryLittleAlchemist
03.26.17 | Big Lebowski is the best on and it isn't even on here[2] |
neekafat
03.26.17 | I was fucking fixing it guys chill |
neekafat

03.26.17 | The big lebowski is the best one on here but it's 4th. List is completely wrong and shit. |
neekafat
03.26.17 | There you go, much better |
pinniped
03.27.17 | Llewyn Davis was soo boring. My fav is probably O brother. |
chinesewhispers
03.27.17 | 1 is 1 agreed but honestly I think 12 is underrated |
neekafat
03.27.17 | I really enjoyed 12 to be honest |
neekafat
03.27.17 | Channing Tatum scene made the whole thing |
butcherboy
03.27.17 | I enjoyed 12, but it is objectively one of their worst movies.. Which isn't really saying much, their bar is pretty high |
neekafat
03.27.17 | That's true lol |
neekafat
03.27.17 | I figured there'd be more people calling me a pleb by now |
Trebor.
03.27.17 | Agreed hard that bottom three are the bottom three, Raising Arizona is quite possibly the best comedy ever made though |
Astral Abortis
03.27.17 | I'm the only person I know who loves The Ladykillers.
I also hated A Serious Man though.
No Country for Old Men is the best film adaptation of a novel that I've ever seen, just brilliant |
furpa
03.27.17 | Our rankings are quite different, I'd personally put 8, 9, 10, & 11 way higher, possibly in my top 5.
But yeh 1 is 1 for sure. |
neekafat
03.27.17 | @Trebor, gotchu fam
@Ov I don't get The Ladykillers, it was fun for what it was. Agreed on No Country, I should read the book |
neekafat
03.27.17 | @Furpa, I respect all of those choices honestly, Burn After is really underrated |
dbizzles
03.27.17 | I haven't seen a few of these andsomr I haven't seen in years. Gonna have to get back on that. Pretty fair ranking from what I've seen. I loathed Hail Caesar though. |
neekafat
03.27.17 | That Channing Tatum scene tho. I thought the whole communist subplot with George Clooney was golden too, but I can see why some wouldn't like the film. |
neekafat
03.27.17 | Which haven't you seen? |
unclereich
03.27.17 | Ladykillers is so damn good |
zakalwe
03.27.17 | Fargo is the most overrated thing of all time. Pregnant bird, the odd quip, snow, wood cutter. End. Shite. |
unclereich
03.27.17 | Zak works for rotten tomatoes clearly |
zakalwe
03.27.17 | :D |
dbizzles
03.27.17 | Fargo fucking rules, Zak. neeka, I've not seen Miller's Crossing, The Man Who Wasn’t There, Barton Fink, Ladykillers or The Hudsucker Proxy. |
Piglet
03.27.17 | I did not care much for Llewellyn Davis and O' Brother Where Art Thou but every other film I just adore |
Sniff
03.27.17 | 1. Ethan
2. Joel |
dbizzles
03.27.17 | Llewellyn Davis was good for what it is and neeka is right. The music is awesome. I always thought O'Brother was overrated, but I've also never read The Odyssey. |
Papa Universe
03.27.17 | So nobody will touch down on the fact that True Grit is missing? |
BlushfulHippocrene
03.27.17 | I adore Inside Llewyn Davis, still haven't seen No Country for Old Men... All my ratings would be lower, but neat ranking, mate. Burn After Reading's underrated, glad to see it higher than the bottom here. |
grannypantys
03.27.17 | 1 needs more time dedicated to the musings of TLJ. |
guitarded_chuck
03.27.17 | ive watched no country for old men like 5 times and you just reminded me that i need to watch it again |
hikingmetalpunk
03.27.17 | "i'm a good samaritan. i'm sorry i'm calling at such an hour, but I thought you might be worried / about the security of your shit."
good rankings, a lot of 4.5s and 5s, as it should be. thorough list. |
neekafat
03.27.17 | UniqueUniverse FUCK I forgot it! It's such a bitch to add it in so I'll just put it on here:
7 - True Grit: 4.5/5
This stylish and intriguing film crafts a fresh and unique atmosphere from the bits of older westerns. Great dialogue and direction as always, with a little bit of an odd epilogue that doesn't tie in as well as it should. |
neekafat
03.27.17 | @Blushful, thanks! Yeah that's definitely a solid film that deserves more attention
@dbizzles, definitely check out Miller's and Man Who Wasn't There |
EyesWideShut
03.27.17 | Barton Fink is my fav with No Country coming in second.. Coens got clossics on clossics so theirs no set ranking..
i didnt fuck with Hail Caesar! at all. |
claygurnz
03.27.17 | 1 is 1 and a great film, but i dunno I find them kinda patchy. Fargo is overrated imo and I didn't like Miller's Crossing at all. Lebowski is amazing though agreed. |
Papa Universe
03.27.17 | There we go, neek. |
Slex
03.27.17 | 1 is 1, Lebowski and True Grit should be higher |
Avagantamos
03.27.17 | nice list, they're my favorite directors. A serious man is their most underrated I think |
MO
03.27.17 | solid fucking list m/ |
Piglet
03.27.17 | I thought Hail Caesar was fun as fuck, also impressed with the bloke who acted as coby doyle |
Spacesh1p
03.27.17 | Good list but I would probably put Burn After Reading higher, it's hilarious. |
neekafat
03.27.17 | @Avagantmos, thanks man, yeah for some reason that movie didn't click with me as much as it should've I think.
@Spacesh1p I really enjoyed that film, the rest are just so much technically better, idk |
neekafat
03.27.17 | Thanks all y'all! |
neekafat
03.27.17 | Updated w/ True Grit
A little miffed no one ever mentions the albums I link to the films lol |
DamnVanne
03.27.17 | Gonna have to check Blood Simple tonight |
cylinder
03.27.17 | i'd prob have 11 a little higher and 7 a little lower but i can dig this list. No Country is just head-smashingly good |
wham49
03.27.17 | 4 is 1, and 14 so low, it has to be better than 11 which is burn after reading, a Nick Cage classic, Goodman is great as well |
neekafat
03.27.17 | @DamnVanne, let me know what you think!
@Cylinder, glad to see the love that Burn is getting lately |
neekafat
03.27.17 | @Wham, idk man RAising Arizona didn't do so much for me after a rewatch |
wham49
03.27.17 | it is supposed to be ridiculous, your list though bro |
ZippaThaRippa
03.27.17 | Your description of True Grit makes me think you didn't see the original True Grit |
adr
03.27.17 | 1,3,4, 9 and 12 are the top 5 |
neekafat
03.28.17 | @Zippa, I haven't lol
@wham, And therefore my list is ridiculous |
butcherboy
03.28.17 | Fuck the original true grit.. No one needs to see the stiff uselessness of John Wayne..
It's an unpopular choice, but Barton fink is always my favourite |
Dewinged
03.28.17 | Big Lebowski and O'Brother are my fave Cohen. |
dbizzles
03.28.17 | 'I thought Hail Caesar was fun as fuck, also impressed with the bloke who acted as coby doyle'
Is that the cowboy? He was the only thing I liked much. |
GhostOfSarcasticBtrd
03.28.17 | Can we all acknowledge that Brad Pitt gave the best performance of his career as a Jamba Juice-sipping, closet smiling, incompetent ass-snapping personal trainer retard in Burn After Reading? |
GhostOfSarcasticBtrd
03.28.17 | "I am seriously fucking surprised he didn't give us that reward." |
Rigma
03.28.17 | Llewyn is too low |
GhostOfSarcasticBtrd
03.28.17 | Burn's a hard 5. |
butcherboy
03.28.17 | Absolutely.. Burn after reading is one of their best, and Pitt was awesome in it |
butcherboy
03.28.17 | Llewelyn was idiotically boring.. John goodman was the only salvaging point of that cmt slog |
GhostOfSarcasticBtrd
03.28.17 | Everything about that movie clicked with me.
"You think that's enough carrots?"
- "WHAT!?"
"For the salad..."
- "You know you really are a negative person." |
Dewinged
03.28.17 | Agreed, Burn after reading is great. |
dbizzles
03.28.17 | Pitt did rule in that. Movie is cool. |
butcherboy
03.28.17 | Malkovic was fucking amazing too.. He and Pitt made the movie |
BlushfulHippocrene
03.28.17 | Going to watch The Man Who Wasn't There just because of the album you used. |
AntonChigurh
03.28.17 | 1 is 1 Good job |
TalonsOfFire
03.28.17 | I love their movies, interesting ranking. No Country for Old Men is one of the best movies ever made. I'd put Raising Arizona way higher, but that might be the nostalgia talking. I also saw Hail Caesar recently, and I think it's underrated. The more of a film fan you are, the more you'll like it. |
butcherboy
03.28.17 | Also, I agree that ladykillers is an often overlooked fantastic film by them, and it is miles ahead of hail Caesar |
dbizzles
03.28.17 | I saw Caesar on a whim because I was playing hookie out with my girl and it was showing right near my apartment. I knew they made it and figured it was worth checking out for sure m. I remember checking my watch and realizing it had only been a half hour. I didn't like the atmosphere at all, it dragged on and on for pretty much nothing, imo. I have a couple friends who liked it and they are huge cinefiles, particularly concerning old movies so I can see the appeal to them. I thought I was going to have to just end my life when Channing Tatum's musical bit was running. |
TalonsOfFire
03.28.17 | The more old movies you've seen, the more you can appreciate the stuff in Hail Caesar.
Also nice choice for album covers.
I'm echoing what others are saying about how great Burn After Reading, True Grit, and The Man Who Wasn't There are. |
neekafat
03.28.17 | Burn After is easily one of their most fun and watchable.
Thanks, Anton. |
neekafat
03.28.17 | "The more old movies you've seen, the more you can appreciate the stuff in Hail Caesar." [2]
The Man Who Wasn't There is probably their most underrated, almost nobody ever talks about it and it fucked me up so bad. Thanks for the one comment on the album covers haha! |
neekafat
03.28.17 | @Blushful, I knew that would get your attention lol, let me know what you think!
@dbizz, I fucking loved his musical number, also the whole him being a Russian thing was great |
wham49
03.28.17 | no was not saying your list is ridiculous, Raising Arizona was ridiculous, your list you rate how you please is how I was saying it |
dbizzles
03.28.17 | My boss keeps telling to watch Raising Arizona. I saw it when I would have been too young to appreciate it, probably 12 or 13. |
neekafat
03.28.17 | @Wham, lol I wasn't taking it as an insult I appreciate it man
@dbizz, def give it a shot, that's when I first saw it too |
Sevengill
03.28.17 | I'd put O Brother higher but 1 is 1, yeah. I didn't even finish A Serious Man. |
WatchItExplode
03.28.17 | The Hudsucker Proxy rules though |
DikkoZinner
03.28.17 | Miller's Crossing, my #1 flick |
wham49
03.28.17 | check i dizzles, I laugh pretty hard every time, Love Cage and Goodman, Goodman is so great |
dbizzles
03.28.17 | Cage was one of the reasons I didn't want to revisit it. Not a big fan. But, if it's good, it's good. I'll see if I can watch it sometime this week. |
TalonsOfFire
03.28.17 | I really need to see O Brother and Blood Simple. I recently saw Barton Fink for the first time and loved it, might even be better than Raising Arizona and about as good as Fargo. |
neekafat
03.28.17 | @Seven, the ending is frustrating but in a way it's cool
@Watch, ew. |
Maco097
03.28.17 | This list is correct.
|
neekafat
03.28.17 | @dbizz, lemme know what you think!
@Talons, you gotta check Blood. Barton certainly is something else lol, very atmospheric |
neekafat
03.28.17 | @Maco, thanks I try! |
TalonsOfFire
03.28.17 | Barton Fink reminded me of a Paul Thomas Anderson film meets Christopher Nolan. Just the right amount of surrealism and quirkiness, and it might be their darkest besides No Country for Old Men. |
neekafat
03.28.17 | That's actually a really good point, I can see that |
ShuteTheRunner
04.27.17 | great list my dude |
neekafat
07.04.17 | Thanks broski, glad ya enjoyed it! |
artiswar
07.04.17 | Good to see some love for Blood Simple, that one always gets pushed aside. But Arizona is way too low. |
